"An Ordinary Date" is the 8th episode of The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse.
Mickey and Minnie keep attempting to make their ordinary date extraordinary.
Tropes
- Disaster Dominoes: Mickey and Minnie resort to gathering all of their remaining flashy gestures into one spot, and literally blows up in their faces.
- Grand Romantic Gesture: Both Mickey and Minnie attempt to do these to make their dates perfect. Unfortunately, said gestures negate each other, or rather have a violent reaction.
- Mythology Gag: The deer are designed after the ones seen in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
- The Simple Gesture Wins: Eventually, Mickey and Minnie's wingman and wingwomen, respectively, tell them to just say how they feel about each other. When their last resort gesture blows up (literally!), they apologize and enjoy a simple dinner.
- Two Scenes, One Dialogue: Parodied. During a scene where Mickey is having the same conversation with Donald & Goofy in one room that Minnie is having with Daisy & Clarabelle in another, Goofy gets mixed up who's actually supposed to be in what conversation and accidentally responds to something Daisy said.
