- The Bus Came Back: Yarpen Zigrin and his dwarves return to help Geralt against a Nilfgaardian patrol hunting Yenn and Ciri.

- Outliving One's Offspring: Francesca wakes up in the middle of the night to find her child has been killed mere feet away from where she was sleeping.
- Puppy-Dog Eyes: Geralt adopts this expression when trying to convince Jaskier that he needs his help. It seems to work as Jaskier stops telling Geralt off for abandoning him at Caingorn and agrees to go with him.
- Relationship Upgrade: Tissaia and Vilgefortz appear to have had one, as Vilgefortz is shown lounging in Tissaia's bed while she looks out a window at Aretuza.
- Shirtless Scene: The first thing Jaskier does after Geralt breaks him out of prison is stop at the nearest body of water to wash. Turns out he's quite buff under that Badass Longcoat.
- Tears of Blood: Ciri pushes herself too hard trying to use her power to raise a bridge and blood starts leaking from her eyes.
- Then Let Me Be Evil: Fearing she's about to be stripped of her authority in Nilfgaard, Fringilla teleports into her uncle's study at Aretuza and asks if there is any way for her to return to the Brotherhood. When Artorious states it would involve denouncing everything she's done for the White Flame, rendering her life's work worthless, Fringilla refuses and goes on a killing spree to ensure her place at Emhyr's side.
- Two out of Three Ain't Bad: The Deathless Mother made bargains with Francesca, Fringilla, and Yennefer, offering them power in exchange for something they could give her. When Yennefer admits this to Geralt, he points out that according to Witcher legends, the Deathless Mother feeds on "pain and desperation". Yennefer couldn't bring herself to sacrifice Ciri, but Francesca's pain over her murdered daughter and Fringilla's desperation to keep her position in Emhyr's court empowers The Deathless Mother enough to escape her imprisonment, at which point she quickly tracks down Ciri and possesses her.
- What the Hell, Hero?: Jaskier is initially disinclined to care about Geralt's problems given how they parted ways. He only relents after Geralt admits he needs Jaskier's help.Jaskier: The last time we saw each other, you basically told me to fuck off, remember? And you left me on a mountain!
- Triss is also angered Tissaia informed Vilgefortz about Ciri being a Child of the Elder Blood, despite Triss telling her that in confidence.
- Geralt is somewhat pissed at Yennefer trying to hand Ciri over to the Deathless Mother.
- Would Hurt a Child: The Nilfgaardians murder Francesca's baby.
