Yennefer helps Jaskier escape a dangerous man. Geralt travels to Cintra to learn more of Ciri's past, while Triss makes a terrifying discovery.

- Boxed Crook: Rience, a petty mage criminal imprisoned for getting on the wrong side of Calanthe, is hired by a woman named Lydia, working for a mysterious benefactor, to track down Geralt and Ciri.
- Cold-Blooded Torture: Rience inflicts this on Jaskier, trying to get information on Geralt's whereabouts.
- Deal with the Devil: Yennefer makes one with the Deathless Mother to escape Redanian custody and recover her magic. The price is to hand over Ciri (though Yennefer doesn't know her identity).
