Tropes in this episode:

  • All Myths Are True: Atlantis exists in Gaea legend as well.
  • Dirty Old Man: The Mole Man (though it wasn't entirely his intent).
  • Establishing Character Moment: For Allen, Dilandau, Folken, and Dornkirk. All four get their first scenes, establishing them as gallant and noble, self-centered and sadistic, cool and pragmatic, and aloof and mysterious respectively.
  • Foreshadowing: Dornkirk mentions Atlantis during his 'conference call' with Folken and Dilandau, giving the first hint of the Atlantis legends being liked to Gaea (and the Emperor's own earthly origins).
  • Pragmatic Villainy: Folken is displeased Dilandau burned his homeland to the ground — though it's less about sentimentality and more about it being unnecessarily excessive (and not what the Stealth Cloaks were intended to be used for). Though it's not stated here, Folken likely knows this immeasurably complicates whatever plans he had to recruit Van for Zaibach.
