Recap / The Tick S 1 E 5 The Tick Vs The Breadmaster

Go To

A disgruntled baker creates explosive bread to dispose of anyone who has crossed him, and it's up to the Tick and Arthur to stop him from baking more of his "baked bads".

Tropes pertaining to The Tick vs. the Breadmaster

  • Eat the Bomb: A very strange version. Instead of a bomb, it's a loaf of bread which is designed to swell to enormous sizes and destroy the building it's placed inside. Tick eats it, then has to keep punching it (i.e. himself) as it tries to expand out of his body until he can digest it. It gives him indigestion.
  • Endangered SoufflĂ©: In this case, the souffle is the danger. The Breadmaster's giant souffle is big enough to engulf the entire city when it rises. Tick defeats it by getting fired out of the Human Bullet's cannon, creating a sonic boom that deflates the souffle.
  • Impossible Leavening: Weaponized by The Breadmaster, first as bread bombs that can encase entire buildings when activated, and finally, as a giant souffle that will devour the whole city.

Arthur: Well, it looks like you averted yet another threat to the City, Tick.
Tick: Yes, and the City looks... almost peaceful under a blanket of freshly, fallen souffle. But, let us not forget the lesson that we can learn from this, Arthur; that man was not meant to tamper with any of the four basic food groups! (sighs, then chews on some of the fallen souffle) Could use a little sugar...
