Tropes

  • Anguished Declaration of Love: In the middle of the night Conrad does what Jeremiah asked and tells Belly the truth: he still loves her.
  • The Diss Track: Steven learns that Taylor's ex Milo has written a whole diss album about Steven. After a fight with Taylor, Steven listens to one of the tracks.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: Steven and Taylor serve as audience surrogates as they each argue their support for a respective Fisher brother to date Belly.
  • Official Couple: Belly and Jeremiah are together and kiss in front of a jubilant Taylor and a confused Steven.
  • Official Kiss: Belly chooses Jeremiah and they share a big kiss cementing their Relationship Upgrade.
  • The Reveal:
    • The last time Belly saw Susannah before she died, Susannah made Belly promise to take care of Conrad, stating that Conrad “needs her”.
    • Belly's middle name is Susannah. Susannah was at the hospital with Laurel when Belly was born.
    • Steven doesn't seem to think very highly of Jeremiah, as he argues to Taylor that Jeremiah doesn't really see Belly and and that he is 'easy' but unserious and that he doesn't 'challenge' her, but thinks that Conrad does.
  • Shipper on Deck: Taylor is Team Jeremiah (or, as she calls it, Team Jellyfish), and Steven is Team Conrad.
  • Slut-Shaming: In his meltdown in the car, Conrad fires insults at Jeremiah and shames him for having kissed a lot of people the previous year. Belly tells Conrad off for it, calling Conrad a dick.
  • There Is Only One Bed: When the trio are stranded due to the flood, there is only one room at the motel, which they begrudgingly take. And in the room, only one bed. The guys let Belly have it, although she says she'd normally argue against 'ladies first' because the boys are two and it would make more sense. The three of them in the same room is still awkward, though.
Belly: Yeah... normally, I'd argue, on principle, 'cause what does me being a girl have to do with not sleeping on the floor? But I definitely saw a roach earlier, so have at it, boys.
