The Pluffs are captured by Brainy.
Brainy and Smurfblossom enter a universe where the Smurfs are mean and Gargamel and Azrael are kind.
This episode has the following tropes:
- Adaptational Backstory Change: Unlike the comic version, the Pluffs are evil counterparts of the Smurfs from an alternate universe, while in the comic, they were evil darker toned duplicates of the Smurfs magically created by Papa Smurf.
- Affectionate Gesture to the Head: Except without the affection, as a Pluff Smurf is giving a nudge to another Pluff Smurf in a rough way.
- Blind Without 'Em: Brainy has his glasses removed while disguised since having two Brainy Pluff walking around would give them away, so Smurfblossom has to drag him around.
- Dramatic Slip: Alternate Brainy makes alternate Hefty fall.
- History Repeats: The ending has Brainy and Smurfblossom continue where they left off: being chased by Gargamel and Azarel, but they do like it after having to put up with the Pluffs.
- Heel–Face Turn: Slightly. The first time Brainy and Smurfblossom explore the Pluff universe, they come across Smurfette...who is revealed to be an alternate universe one.
- Jerkass: The Smurfs in the alternate universe enjoy hurting each other and torture Bigheart (alternate Bigmouth) and Caramel (Alternate Gargamel) only for the fun of it.
- Making the Choice for You: Alternate Jokey walks up to alternate Vanity. He gives him a gag box, but instead of Vanity denying it, Jokey opens the box and it's a boxing glove that knocks him away. He then processes to laugh.
- Mirror Universe: The plot of the episode. The Smurfs are gray and mean, while Caramel and Marshmallow are kind.
- Paper-Thin Disguise: Our two characters disguise themselves as Pluffs to blend in with the crowd. Papa Smurf recognizes it and they run away from the 99 angry Smurfs.
- Savvy Guy, Energetic Girl: Brainy and Smurfblossom.
- Steel Ear Drums: Brainy covers his ears with two blueberries while Smurfblossom is talking on and on in the beginning.
- Squashed Flat: Alternate Farmer runs a Pluff over with his tractor.
- Shout-Out:
- The travel between universes using Brainy's two-wheeled cycle is similar to how the DeLorean time machine travels through time in the Back to the Future franchise, right down to the flaming tire tracks being left behind.
- This episode is based on the "mirror universe" concept created by the episode "Mirror, Mirror" from the original 1960s Star Trek TV series.
- The Scream: Alternate Smurfblossom does this to attract the Pluffs' attention that Alternate Bigmouth is in the village.
- Tickle Torture: One Pluff tickles Bigheart’s foot.
- Would Hit a Girl: The Hefty from the alternate universe drops a dumbbell on Pluffette’s foot.
- You Don't Look Like You: Unlike the comic version, the alternate universe Smurfs do not have red eyes.
