Recap / The Simpsons S 24 E 17 What Animated Women Want

Go To

Homer and Milhouse each learn a lesson on what (animated) women want out of their cartoon men: Milhouse takes his lessons on how to be a woman's man from the ghost of Marlon Brando while Moe teaches Homer that the best way to keep women in line is with a Fifty Shades of Grey-style relationship filled with bondage and bizarre sex toys.

Tropes:

  • All Girls Want Bad Boys: Milhouse actually gets some traction with Lisa by emulating Stanley Kowalski from A Streetcar Named Desire. He moves on to other roles in Brando's career, each being dismissive of her while telling her to do things for him. Even Lisa is wondering why it's working.
  • Big Eater: Homer, as usual. This time, however, it strains his relationship with Marge. While Marge wanted to go to the upscale sushi restaurant to meet people, Homer just wanted to eat (and wasn't very classy about it). When Homer brings Marge food to apologize, he eats it all before she can have any, annoying her even more.
  • Brick Joke: The school psychologist has a stuffed bunny named Fluffy Fella that Millhouse always holds while he's talking to her. When she gets fired, she takes Fella with her, saying she needs him more than the kids just then. When Homer feeds his sushi to Santa's Little Helper and it wakes up the sushi chef on the other side of town, it turns out he is married to the former school psychologist, and she brought the stuffed bunny with her to bed.
  • Continuity Nod: Milhouse takes notes while watching A Streetcar Named Desire, one of which is "Musical starring Flanders was better."
  • Couch Gag: A whole scene dedicated to Breaking Bad, down to having both leads watching the Simpsons' operation while they drink beer.
  • Shout-Out:
  • Unusual Euphemism: A long standing Running Gag has Homer and Marge refer to their sex life as "snuggling." It starts getting absurd when Homer buys a bunch of BDSM gear and Marge is shocked he built a "snuggle dungeon."
