Recap / The Silverscale Arena S 1 E 17 Infinity Pizza

Go To

"After a whole season of the Arena, which was destroyed earlier, join the 12 winners as they're roped into the most insane pizza delivery…one involving the legendary Multiverse Infinity Stones! What trials will they face? What old foes will they have to overcome again? And are they prepared for what TRUE pain is when they're faced with the power of infinity itself?"

  • Accidental Murder: While fighting their mind controlled loved ones trying to break them free, several of the heroes accidentally kill them in the process.
  • Amnesiacs are Innocent: Averted HARD, as when Ridley gets amnesia after his fight with Ed, the group of heroes proceed to give him a massive No Holds Barred Beat Down for everything he put them through.
  • And I Must Scream: The state of the heroes' loved ones in chapter 4, who have had their minds destroyed by Ridley and are forced to fight the heroes, with them begging the heroes to kill them.
    • Ridley's ultimate vengeance upon our heroes: He sends them to a destroyed universe where they're forced to fight and kill their loved ones, and then leaves them as the only survivors of that world. And he planned to force them to do this in an endless cycle. Fortunately his gauntlet broke when he snapped it and the heroes are able to stop him before he could do this again.
  • Apocalypse How: At the barest minimum, Ridley with the Multiversal Infinity Stones planned to do a Class 6 version of this trope.
  • Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: Some of the side effects the kids that hospitalized suffer from when Ed taste-tested the jawbreakers includes nausea, volcanic fever, incredible jitters, paranoia, terrifying hallucinations, and a desire to worship something called 'Acerabock the Chicken God'.
  • Asshole Victim: Nova LeMarche, who's the only character to be permanently killed off. But considering the kinks she was into and openly stated she would kill a whole world just to get back at Krystal in the villains' meeting, she more than deserved it.
  • Attackof The 50 Foot Whatever: When Ridley summons Cool Cat for the rematch, he's grown to the size of a kaiju.
  • Attack the Tail: In the climax, after Ed deals a devastating blow onto Ridley, he then grabs his tail and throws him into an asteroid belt.
  • Badass Boast: Megatron has this to say to Starscream after Starscream attacks him for leaving the Decepticons behind him and teaming up with his rival Zodd:
Megatron: "Fool. Even in death, there is no command BUT mine. I hope you've made peace with your choice."
  • Berserk Button: Being called small for Judy, as it's considered a specist term for bunnies in her universe. She kicks Cy in the Reality realm for calling her tiny.
  • Beyond the Impossible: Ed taste-testing the jawbreakers during his time as a jawbreaker factory worker causes kids within the Peach Creek area to come down with a litany of diseases yet unheard of.
    • Torque is unfortunate enough to somehow smell Wario's gas in the Space realm, despite there being no air in space.
  • Big Bad Ensemble: Most of the runner-ups from the episodes of the season (except for Acererak and Alture Essun), start the movie by teaming up and coming up with a plan to get revenge on the winners.
  • Big Damn Movie: One that wraps up the first season. It's also the only story in this series to be considered a movie so far.
  • Big "NO!": Cleopterix has this reaction when Cy decides NOT to fight the endless horde of Doomslayer clones.
    • In chapter 4, Ed yells one out as he charges at Ridley as he's monologuing about how he plans to break the heroes. He has a bigger one after accidentally killing the mind-controlled Cul-De-Sac kids.
    • And Ridley has a massive one at the end of the final battle with Ed when their Punch Parry results in his gauntlet breaking and the stones turning into dust.
    • Shockwave gets a massive one over seeing the now kaiju-sized Cool Cat.
  • Big "OMG!": Wario has one after Zodd latches onto Starscream and they’re forced to crash-land.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: The heroes' loved ones in chapter four, whose minds are destroyed by Ridley and are used to fight them.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: When Ed asks the disguised Ridley if he’s the Ghost of Christmas Past, Ridley says he isn't since the fanfic couldn’t be released on Christmas.
  • By Wall That Is Holey: When Ed punches a building behind him while fighting off the mind controlled Cul-De-Sac kids, the building collapses and kills them, with Ed surviving because of a window hole granting him safety.
  • Catch and Return: Wario eats the bullets that Torque fired at him and gains the power to fire a laser out of his mouth in their fight in the Space realm.
  • Combination Attack: Our heroes use these to defeat every villain except for Ridley in the fifth chapter; Krystal, Torque, and Legoshi’s kill Nova, Judy and Tigress lunge at Cleopetrix with enough force to break her wings, Heavy and Bardin launch Draka into Cleopetrix's body with their explosives, and Shockwave and Cy use theirs to put a new hole into Cool Cat’s chest.
  • Continuity Cavalcade: As this is the culmination of an entire season's worth of Arenas (plus a few side-stories), there are numerous references to past episodes.
  • Corrupt Cop: Ed during his brief time as a police officer, exposes several members of the force of accounts of inner corruption. This is what gets him fired from the police department.
  • Contrived Coincidence: For Torque, Krystal, Shockwave, Cy, Zodd, and Heavy, they just happen to run into their rivals from their respective Arenas in the realms they enter to unlock the Multiversal Infinity Stones.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: The first round between the heroes and Ridley with all the Multiversal Infinity Stones goes pretty badly for the heroes. The only reason Ridley doesn't kill them right then and there is because he had something worse planned for them to endure.
  • Curse Cut Short: When Nova realizes she and the other villains are screwed from the power growing inside the heroes, she's only able to get out a "motherf-" before being killed by Krystal, Torque, and Legoshi's Combination Attack.
  • Dead Hat Shot: As Heavy's reeling from having to kill his girlfriend and his family, he holds Dawn's hat to his body.
  • Did I Mention It's Christmas?: Several of the winners are celebrating Christmas with their loved ones before being dragged into the adventure by Ed. But it's brought up several times by the narration that due to IRL factors beyond the author’s control, it couldn’t come out on Christmas.
  • Dope Slap: When Krystal asks if Ridley and Ed destroyed each other, Gul makes a comment that they couldn't be that blessed. He receives a smack upside the head for that comment by Heavy.
  • Double Entendre: Heavy's section in the epilogue has him having 'warmed the yuletide logs' with Dawn.
  • Dual Boss: In chapter 3 Torque and Krystal have to fight Nova LeMarche and Wario in the Space realm while Zodd and Megatron fight Starscream and Gul in the Power realm.
  • Enemy Within: When Tigress and Shockwave enter the Mind realm, their first challenge involves fighting manifestations of their worst memories and feelings. It takes them thinking of all their good memories and the people they care about to be able to defeat the manifestations.
  • Epigraph: Each realm the teams of characters travel through opens with a quote that's relevant to the stone that the characters are trying to unlock.
  • Excited Title! Two-Part Episode Name!: The names of every chapter follows this format.
  • "Eureka!" Moment: When Eddy tells Ed that he can donate to whatever charity he wants when he rakes in the dough like he will, this leads to Ed coming up with the idea to get a job.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Starscream is so horrified by Ridley wanting to have the power to continuously annihilate all life that he joins with the heroes to stop him.
  • Face Doodling: Ed grabs Torque just as she was about to do this to one of her teammates Whisper.
  • Facepalm: Edd's reaction to Eddy's latest scheme, the 'Belly-Button Searching Extravaganza!'.
    • Megatron does this after Starscream admits he was right about power being useless unless used meaningfully, which he didn't realize until he discovered Ridley's only goal was to continuously annihilate all life.
  • Failure Montage: The first chapter revolves on Ed trying, and failing, to maintain a job, usually from his stupidity and getting fired within an hour.
  • Fartilery: In addition to using this as a weapon of his, Wario also uses it to travel around in the Space realm.
  • Fastball Special: Judy has Cy shoot her out of his cannon and right into one of Cool Cat's eyes.
  • Flechette Storm: Draka tries killing Bardin and Heavy in their first encounter by throwing a lot of knives at them after stopping time a la DIO. Unfortunately for him, they do jack squat to Heavy and most of the knives miss Bardin completely, with the two that actually hit only hit his helmet.
  • Flipping the Bird: After all the villains converge with the heroes at the Nexus after their bouts in the realms, Torque tells them to get the twist over with while giving them the double-finger. She also does this to Baskerra as she returns back to her universe, as it was her pizza delivery that started this mess.
  • For Want Of A Nail: What seemed like a simple pizza delivery that Ed does so he can earn money to donate to a charity that Sakaki showed him ends up turning into a fight for the survival of the multiverse itself!
  • Four Is Death: The fourth chapter ends with Ridley, known as the Cunning God of Death, defeating our heroes and sending them to a decimated universe, where they’re then forced to fight off and kill their loved ones.
  • Genre Savvy: As the "old man" is explaining to the heroes that they will have to endure a certain task in order to unlock the stones, Krystal thinks that this is just some scheme by the benefactor to unlock the stones for him and play the heroes like fools. She’s proven absolutely correct on that front.
    • When Judy and Cy seemingly find the Reality Stone really quickly, Judy realizes it's not going to be as easy as it looks and they have to jump through one of their alternate realities in order to get it.
  • Good Angel, Bad Angel: Ed has these show up on his shoulders to try and coax him on what to do with the stuff in the storage room in the Soul realm, but they quickly deteriorate into arguing and fighting with each other for long enough until they realize that Ed had walked away from them.
  • Grievous Harm with a Body: During the first fight with Ridley, Ridley grabs Bardin and uses him as a makeshift club, smacking Torque and Heavy with him.
  • Groin Attack: In addition to Ed whipping Draka into Nova's balls, he also kicks Ridley in his junk after he seemingly killed him by sending him into a planet’s core and the planet exploding.
  • Hammerspace: When Ed checks his pockets to see what money he has, he pulls out an anvil, some gum-crusted comic books, and an expired bag of chicken food, but no cash.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Starscream and Wario decide to join the heroes after Starscream realizes that Ridley was a madman who only wanted power and planned to annihilate all life and Wario wants things to go back to the things they were.
  • Heroic BSoD: Our heroes collectively go through a MASSIVE one after being forced to kill their loved ones in self defense, with Ed taking this the hardest as he blames himself for falling through Ridley's deception and causing all of this to happen.
  • He Who Fights Monsters: Cool Cat, who teams up with the other villains to get back at the heroes (mainly Shockwave) for foiling his attempts at stopping "bullying". Shockwave yells at Cool Cat that he's working for someone who's objectively a bully when they confront each other again in chapter 4.
  • Human Disguise: The space dragon Ridley disguises himself as an elderly man to Ed to give him the pizza box containing the Infinity Stones.
  • "I Know You're in There Somewhere" Fight: When the heroes are forced to fight their mind controlled loved ones, they try desperately to get them to come back to their senses. Unfortunately it doesn't work and they're forced to kill them.
  • It's Easy, So It Sucks!: Non-video game example, as the reason Wario switches to the heroes side is because he found that everything came too easily for him in his idealized world and he found it boring.
  • I'm a Humanitarian: Discussed between Krystal and Torque, where after their fight with Nova and Wario, Krystal considers hollowing out Nova and eating her remains, and then asks if she sounds psychotic. Torque then replies that she probably would taste good over a BBQ.
  • Impaled With Extremeprejudice: Zodd manages to land his claw into Ridley's chest at the end of their first fight. Unfortunately Ridley has enough strength to snap his hand with the gauntlet holding the Infinity Stones on to enact his revenge on them.
  • Implied Death Threat: After Shockwave says that he thinks Ed's mind has cracked, Torque replies back that she'll crack it a whole lot more.
  • Interrupted Intimacy: When Ed picks up Heavy and Krystal, he picks them up when they were about to have sex with their respective partners.
  • Just Here for the Free Snacks: Wario admits this as the reason he came to the villains' meeting, before quickly adding "And revenge!"
  • Killed Off for Real: Nova LeMarche, who is not only the only villain to explicitly die, but is also the only character to STAY dead after the events of the movie.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: After Ridley’s fight with Ed destroys the Multiversal Infinity Stones, he ends up forgetting not just about them, but also all the heroes that he had fought previously.
  • Let's Split Up, Gang!: Enforced, as the "old man's" only rule for the group of heroes is that only two of them each can enter a portal to unlock an Infinity Stones' power.
  • Misplaced Retribution: When Ed burns Kevin's house down by using oil instead of water to put out a fire, Kevin beats up Eddy out of pure hate, and not Ed, the one who burned his house down in the first place.
    • The villains want Megatron and Tigress equally as dead as the rest of the winners even though the characters that fought them in their respective Arenas don't appear with the other villains. Though in the former's case Starscream wants revenge on him for seemingly abandoning the Decepticons, making his case more justified.
  • The Multiverse: The plot involves the villains using the previous winners, who come from different universes, trying to harness the Multiversal Infinity Stones to get revenge on them. In addition, Judy and Cy find themselves looking at an endless stream of alternate realities of their universes in the Reality realm.
  • Near-Villain Victory: The fourth chapter ends on a very bleak note with Ridley getting his revenge on our heroes and having them killing their loved ones, with seemingly no way to reverse this. Fortunately, Starscream and Wario show up to aid our heroes and gives them the Time Stone, which allows them to turn back time to before Ridley could enact his plan on our heroes.
  • No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: Ed exposing several members of the Cul-De-Sac police department of inner corruption is what gets him fired from the force.
    • Ridley actually giving the other villains the worlds where they get what they wanted instead of disposing of them after defeating the heroes is what causes his downfall, as one of the villains, Wario, betrays him since he found his idealized world too boring and give the Time Stone the heroes needed to stop Ridley from enacting his revenge on the heroes.
  • Not So Stoic: Shockwave SCREAMS for someone to kill the now kaiju-sized Cool Cat with anything.
  • Psychological Torment Zone: Draka uses the Time realm to show Bardin and Heavy their worst memories in an attempt to break them and drive them into despair.
  • Politically Incorrect Hero: When Ed shows Edd and Eddy the poster of the charity Sakaki showed him, Eddy comments that he can't speak moonspeak.
  • Punch Catch: The climactic battle between Ed and Ridley in chapter 6 begins with Ed catching Ridley’s fist.
  • Punch Parry: A powered up Ed's fist and Ridley's gauntlet fist clash at the end of chapter 5, which causes the reality around them to shatter! Its what also ends the final battle in chapter 6, with it breaking Ridley’s gauntlet and destroying the stones.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Most of the winners deliver one to Ridley after they foil Ridley’s plan, frustrating him to no end:
Ridley: "You guys are like cockroaches. Every time it looks like I've killed you or brought you to your lowest, you come again! What do you assholes have to cling to?!"
    Ed: "The Power of Friendship!"
Legoshi: "I know that sounds cheesy...But yeah. I feel sorry for you, Ridley. Somebody like you who's only satisfied by how many lives he can destroy."
Cy: "At least I conquered something. You’re just a pathetic psychopath, yes."
Shockwave: "You're only driven by your basest instincts. The lack of ambition beyond that is illogical as it is distasteful. You will pay for wasting my time."
Tigress: "Your technique must be lacking if you have to rely on trinkets to defeat anybody these days."
Judy: "I think shoving you into a cell would be better than killing you. You honestly don't deserve the courtesy."
Megatron: "To think you nearly brought me low...I promise you. The same luck won’t happen again. For I am Megatron...and you are target practice."
Bardin: "And you're just a plain wannabe slaan cunt."
  • Sacrificial Planet: During the climax, Ridley hits Ed with a plasma beam powerful enough to send him straight into a nearby planet's core, causing it to explode.
  • Secret Test of Character: To unlock the Soul Stone's power in the Soul realm, Legoshi and Ed must each face a trial if they are to unlock it: For Legoshi, he has to kill all the small animals when he's dealt with a sudden extreme bout of hunger. And for Ed, he finds himself in a storage area filled with everything he can enjoy with a 100% sale...while looking at some hungry orphans outside the storage's window who have nothing fun to do. They pass when Legoshi refuses to eat them even when faced with overwhelming hunger and Ed gives everything in the storage room to the orphans.
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: For Baskerra; after getting her pizza delivery hijacked by Ridley and used as a means to bring the possible end of the multiverse, when she finally receives her pizza at the end of the story, she discovers Wario eating it while she was sending the heroes back to their dimensions.
  • Sheathe Your Sword: When Cy realizes the reality where he gets to kill an endless horde of Doomslayers is more of a temptation than anything else, he decides to not fight them, and that’s how he gets kicked out of that reality.
  • Shout-Out: Just before Shockwave is picked up by Ed, he's berating Tarantulas for failing to account that superweapons powered by screams alone would have laughter as a proper countermeasure to it.
  • The Stinger: The story ends with a being known as "The Great Evil" escaping The Void and landing on a beach. This has yet to be followed up on, but it seems to have been forgotten. Recent changes to the story even omit this stinger!
  • Sudden Videogame Moment: When Ridley changes reality during the final battle, it turns into a boss fight you’d see in a video game, with them rocking their sprites from their GBA games.
  • Take That!: Among the numerous alternate realities that Judy and Cy come across, two of them that are brought up involve a reality called "Big Baby Mode" which was adjusted for game journalists to enjoy, and one where Judy gets involved in something involving abortion and a recreation of the JFK assassination, which the narration calls this reality "unholy".
    • Judy's lie for the now amnesiac Ridley has her claim that he took a wrong galaxy and got beat up by rabid Sega fans. Cy comments that she could have said Capcom.
  • Tempting Fate: When Ed decides to become a jawbreaker factory worker, Eddy loves the idea since it means that they have someone on the inside and thinks there’s no way this can go wrong. The next paragraph starts with hospital rates skyrocketing as a result of Ed taste-testing all the jawbreakers.
  • This Is Gonna Suck: After Wario gets caught by Baskerra eating her pizza, he realizes that whatever she plans to do him, it isn't going to be pretty.
  • Time Master: Ridley with the Time Stone uses it to slow down and hinder the heroes in their first fight.
  • Time Stands Still: After Draka's attempt of breaking Bardin and Heavy in the Time realm by showing them their worst memories fails, he stops time in the realm and tries killing them by throwing a bunch of knives at them, before resuming time.
    • In the first round between the heroes and the villains, when all the villains except for Ridley are about to charge at the heroes, Ridley uses the time stone to freeze them in place, stating that they’ll get their turn.
    • Pushed to his limits in the final battle, Ridley stops time so he can easily kill Ed by skewering him with his tail, only for him to No-Sell the time stop and grabs it.
  • Torso with a View: Cool Cat receives one of these from Shockwave and Cy's Combination Attack.
  • Troubled Fetal Position: Cy ends up in this position after the events of the fourth chapter.
  • Uncertain Doom: Of the cast of villains, Cleopetrix and Draka are listed as still missing at the end of the episode and unlike Cool Cat, their fates are yet to be followed up on.
  • Unwitting Pawn: A disguised Ridley tricks Ed into collecting all the previous winners and having them unlocking the Infinity Stones powers for him and the villains under the guise of it being a simple pizza delivery.
  • Walking Shirtless Scene: Just before the final confrontation with Ridley, Ed tears off his shirt.
  • "Where Are They Now?" Epilogue: The story has an epilogue on what each hero did following the events of this story, as well as an status update on each villain that participated.
  • With Due Respect: Edd to Ed after the latter decides he wants to get a job:
Edd: "Ed, with all due respect…you have to have skills, a detailed resume, and a working education to achieve anything close to a fulfilling and well-paying job. You've already flunked high school ten times…somehow!"
  • Would Hurt a Child: Even in Cool Cat’s idealized universe, he still feels the need to murder "bullies", as evidenced with the necklace made out of the skulls of children he's wearing when Ridley brings him back to fight the heroes again.
