Secret Tropes Uncovered

  • Appearance Is in the Eye of the Beholder: The aliens have a weird variant. The episode implies the scent of green aliens will smell like whatever meat will get a human to eat it. This doesn't work on vegetarians.
  • Artistic License – Biology: The aliens' system of reproduction requires two aliens to be eaten but produces only one new alien. Assuming they have no other means of reproducing, this would mean that the alien population would constantly be in decline.
  • Bizarre Alien Biology: The aliens are snake-like creatures with a single eye and a single antennae. They come in either green or yellow. The green ones smell like meat while the yellow ones smell like desserts. Their reproduction system requires humans eating one of each type. After eating one of each type, the human will belch out a floating blue head-like being. It's unclear if this is a Fusion Dance of the two aliens or not.
  • Bizarre Alien Reproduction: The aliens rely on the humans eating them and then burping them up in order to be reborn.
  • Bizarre Belching: The crisis is eventually averted when the eponymous aliens simply allow humans to eat them, as they are reborn as soon as the consumer burps.
  • Coincidental Broadcast: Anita doesn't believe she ate the alien on TV, until the screen in the room shows her, in slow motion, what she had done.
  • Did Not Think This Through: Victor has the idea of rounding up the vegetarian agents of U.Z.Z (such as Ray). Unfortunately, he didn't account for alternative eating habits, such as pescatarian (fish).
  • Easter Egg: The number 8260 can be found on the side of one of the missiles. This was used as a way of unlocking secrets back when the website worked.
  • First Contact: The premise of the episode, essentially.
  • Meta Guy: Victor lampshades as many First Contact clichés he can think of and laments Anita and the Aliens' use of "Take me to your leader" and "Greetings" when they all first meet.
  • Never Trust a Title: At no point do the aliens ever attack. In fact, they actually try to tell humanity how to revert the side effects of eating them. It turns out that the solution is to just let the humans eat them so they will be reborn when they burp, as it's part of their lifecycle.
  • No Celebrities Were Harmed: The commentator of the first contact is clearly modeled on that of Gok Wan, the fashion designer.
  • No-Sell: When humanity gets hooked on eating green visiting aliens due to them smelling and tasting like delicious dishes, Victor realizes that he's unaffected by the smell due to being vegetarian. He then assembles a "Vegetarian Task Force" to go to the mother ship of the aliens... only to find out that most of his members are pescatarian after most of them eat the fish-tasting aliens.
  • Once an Episode:
    • The Fluffy Bunny Show: Sweet Little Granny is sky-hooked out of the studio via helicopter.
    • Changed Daily's name of the day is "Peekaboo."
    • Anita and Victor land on their sky-bikes after the title sequence, chasing down the alien scout ship.
  • Personal Dictionary: The U.Z.Z. agents Victor brings along consider themselves vegetarians despite eating fish. Victor calls them out on this.
  • Running Gag: The U.Z.Z agents eating the aliens before they can say how to cure the humans.
