Recap / The Rookie 2018 S 3 E 06 Revelations

Go To

Nolan's routine traffic stop results in him being outed as a police officer. Talking with his professor, he decides to be more open with his fellow students. Bradford and Chen attend an undercover police officer's convention. It is a very exclusive experience where Chen is intrigued by the possibilities.

Chen studies what it is like to be an undercover police officer when he participates in a narcotics operation. Having lost his wife to undercover work, Bradford is less than enthusiastic about it. Bradford also discovers a former colleague, Mack Daniels, is suffering from an addiction problem as well as carrying out an affair.

  • Fox News Liberal: The students at the ethics class are immediately hostile and paranoid about Nolan the moment they discover that he's a cop, believing that he's infiltrating them. Fiona points to them out a white rookie in his 40s would be the last choice for an undercover officer in this situation.
  • Morton's Fork: Bradford has the option of turning his friend in and potentially stopping him from degenerating further (but costing Mack his job) or not reporting him but leaving him to explode worse later. He turns him in.
  • Only Sane Man: John is the only adult in the room of college students in both the figurative as well as literal sense of the word.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Mack's wife tells Bradford that he's ruined both her husband and her lives by costing him his job as well as pension.
  • Straw Character: The academic students are all annoying over-privileged twits who are mean to John Nolan for just being a cop.
