Bishop and Nolan encounter a man who has been stabbed who, after being put in an ambulance, escapes it and runs away. This is commented on as Nolan being interested in getting more "mysteries" in their causes.
He turns out to be a man named Oritz who warns them of a drug money transfer of a million dollars. The rookies acquire the money and proceed to guard it for the evening, only to have the LAPD reveal $250,000 was missing and questions of whether one of them is a thief or not arise.
The Cartel attempts to kill Chen for stealing the money, only for her to figure out its to cover up for his embezzlement (with Oritz's help).

- What You Are in the Dark: None of the rookies is seriously tempted to take any of the money.
- Writers Cannot Do Math: $1 million in 100 dollar bills is just 100 stacks with 100 bills per stack. This is small enough to fit into a briefcase. For a million to take this much space it should consist of 10 dollar bills, which is not the case, since Franklin's portrait can be clearly seen on all of them.
