The 14th episode.
Sir, and the audience as well, learns from Basil about how exactly he and Fluttershy got together. Several FIM episodes, including an original one, are discussed. Some liberties are taken, though.
- Adaptational Villainy: Trixie is WAY more violent and mean than in canon.
- Subverted when she's revealed to be a Changeling in the re-write.
- Almost Kiss: The 4th date has this...right before an insect monster bursts in.
- Animals Hate Him: The animals haven't forgiven Basil by the time he met Fluttershy. They get over it, though.
- Axe Before Entering: The insect creature on the 4th date.
- Big Creepy-Crawlies: A humanoid scorpion hybrid that seemingly appears out of nowhere. It's explained in a later piece of writing that this is a transformed Big Macintosh.
- Bolivian Army Ending: The fanfic ends right when Sir realizes he's been putting mayo on his armor rather than the polish.
- Call-Forward: Basil mentions Azazel, who appears in Season 2 of the series.
- Cool Car: The Rick-Mobile. It's also the source of Basil's ire.
- Don't Wake the Sleeper: Downplayed with Basil, though it's still unwise to wake a sleeping dragon.
- Drives Like Crazy: You do NOT want to be in the backseat of the Rick-Mobile.
- Emotional Bruiser: Basil. "TOUGH GUYS CRY!"
- Failed a Spot Check: The animals notice the tear in Basil's suit. They rip it apart to reveal Basil's true form in front of Fluttershy.
- Fire-Breathing Diner: The third date of Basil and Fluttershy involved a Mexi-colt restaurant. Needless to say, somepony put too many spices in Basil's meal...
- Forced Transformation: During the infamous magic duel, Rick and Basil are seemingly turned into sheep.
- For Want Of A Nail: Sir actually wanted Basil to tell him where the Mayo was. The dragon is noticeably irritated at this.
- Honor Before Reason: In order to defend Fluttershy's honor, Basil roars at the offenders. Rick calls him out on this.
- Interspecies Romance: Between Basil and Flutershy, of course. There's also Rick and Twilight, but that's not given focus.
- Jump Scare: Basil, on his first date with Fluttershy, has the displeasure of being scared out of his wits by a hidden Jack-In-The-Box in each of his cupcakes (served by Pinkie by accident). The kicker...they all screamed "SWALLOW YOUR SOUL!!!".
- Latex Perfection: Basil's pony costume. It doesn't last long, but it does make things less awkward.
- Meet Cute: Basil and Fluttershy (for, actually, the second time).
- Noodle Incident: The second date Basil and Fluttershy had was ruined by honey, stockings, hammers to the groin, and a bear-tank. Basil STRONGLY advises that this should be forgotten.
- Shipper on Deck: Rick, to a P. Later, Discord.
- Take That!: Trixie's changeling imposter in Magic Duel is called a reminder that the author wants to forget the past. Specifically, her entry in Z-Squared's Top Ten Most Hated Cartoon Characters.
- Tampering with Food and Drink: Rick and Discord spike Fluttershy's drink on the 4th date so she'll put the moves on Basil.
- Thankfully, this is chalked up as her trying out alcohol in the rewrite. Thus, it's much more plausible.
- Training Montage: Basil helps train Fluttershy and they bond over it, of course.
- Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Basil, like in canon, really didn't mean to smoke out the atmosphere.
- What the Hell, Hero?: Indirectly given from Basil to the Mane 6 as they laugh at him for what he did. He's not too happy that they're making a joke out of him nearly snuffing out the wildlife. It is from his perspective, so this really wasn't their intent. Still.
