Airdate: 1991

Bert and Cedric take Bentley to their secret fishing spot to catch the largest catfish in the area, Old Tom, and make him promise not to tell anyone about it. Meanwhile, desperate for money that Cyril won't provide for them, the Pigs moonlight for Milton Midas.

The One That Got Away! contains examples of:

  • Downer Ending: Milton Midas is arrested for his crimes, but the lake is still heavily polluted and it might never be restored to its former glory.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Cyril is so outraged by Milton's crimes that he outright throws as much money as he can at the Pigs to get them to stop.
Cyril: You want money? Here! Here's lots of money! Take it all! Take some more! Just give me back the fishing hole! Can you do that? Can you give me a price on that? Can you?
  • Foreshadowing: When Bert stops Bentley from accidentally giving away the location of their secret fishing hole to Mr. Willow, Mr. Willow asks Bert if it's still such a big secret. It's later revealed that he's already aware of the lake where it's located.
  • Old-Fashioned Rowboat Date: Mr. Willow is seen taking an unseen woman (possibly his wife) on one in a flashback.
  • Open Secret: Bert and Cedric believe that their secret fishing spot by the lake is unknown to everyone besides them and Bentley, but it turns out Ralph, Melissa, Cyril, and even Mr. Willow know about it, too. Cyril also thought it was a secret to him until he found out his father fished there as well.
  • Put on a Prison Bus: Milton Midas is arrested for paying the Pigs to dump toxic waste into the lake and he doesn't reappear in the next episode, which is also the last.
  • Unexpectedly Dark Episode: While not the only episode to tackle the subject of pollution, this one actually goes through with and shows the consequences of it. Even though Milton Midas gets arrested, the damage that his toxic waste did to the lake cannot be undone, and all the creatures that had been living in it have died. There is no happy ending.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Milton Midas gets panicky as his crimes get exposed and begs for mercy as he gets arrested.
