Original U.S. air date: 3/25/2005 (produced in 2003)

Production code: PPG-506

I See a Funny Cartoon in Your Future: The girls try to catch a pickpocketing false psychic (June Foray) that stole the Mayor's key.

Octi-Gone: Bubbles tries to figure out who dismembered Octi on the night of a major party at her house.

I See a Funny Cartoon in Your Future provides examples of:

  • Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: When Madame Argentina comes to a voodoo shop, she buys three voodoo dolls of the girls, a box of pins, and a box of gumdrops.
  • Ash Face: Madame Argentina and Fred get this up to eleven when falling onto the girls' barbecue.
  • Card-Carrying Villain: Madame Argentina's card reveals herself to be an "all time baddy".
  • Cliffhanger: The episode has one just before the third act.
  • Contrived Coincidence: At the Narrator's suggestion that "you could throw a dart out the window and hit a short, psychic woman", the girls do just that, and indeed end up hitting Madame Argentina.
  • Foul Waterfowl: Fred the goose is Madame Argentina's lackey and is just as evil as she is.
  • Hollywood Voodoo: Madame Argentina flees to Voodoo Island, where she proceeds to purchase voodoo dolls of the girls in order to incapacitate them. Later, the girls turn the tables on Madame Argentina with a voodoo doll of Fred.
  • Homage: To the cartoons of Jay Ward.
  • Hurricane of Puns: The episode is loaded with puns, as part of its homage to Rocky and Bullwinkle and other cartoons by Jay Ward.
  • The Key Is Behind the Lock: The Mayor gets locked out of Townsville since Madame Argentina and Fred stole the key to the city from him, and took it back inside.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: A collector steals the Voodoo Dolls of the Powerpuff Girls in order to sell them on Ebay, thus freeing the real girls from their spell.
  • Non-Human Sidekick: Fred, Madame Argentina’s sidekick, is a goose.
  • Ow, My Body Part!: Madame Argentina pricks the Bubbles voodoo doll's derrière with a pin, which, of course, happens to the real Bubbles who cries out (musically), "D'oh! In my tailbone!".
  • Phony Psychic: Madame Argentina.
  • Running Gag: The Narrator saying the girls going to and leaving the Mayor faster than you can say whatever phrase he says. When the Mayor tries to say the phrase, he is interrupted by the Girls coming to or leaving him.
  • Totem Pole Trench: The girls use this technique to disguise themselves as a customer for Madame Argentina. However, it backfires as they all get stuck in the trenchcoat.
  • Trail of Bread Crumbs: When fleeing from the girls, Madame Argentina accidentally leaves behind a trail of tarot cards.

Octi-Gone provides examples of:

  • An Arm and a Leg: Octi lost one of his legs when the Professor accidentally ran over him with the vacuum cleaner. The discarded leg is found by Bubbles before the professor can retrieve it, much to her horror.
  • Ballroom Blitz: Mojo makes his move against the girls during a fancy party at their house.
  • Beneath Suspicion: Bubbles never suspects Professor Utonium to be one of the people that could have killed Octi, but ironically, he is revealed to be the culprit.
  • Big "QUIET!": Bubbles gives one of these when Blossom asks her what she's talking about when the former demands whoever took Octi give him back to her.
  • Blame Game: Bubbles suspects various people of having killed Octi, including Buttercup (who can be mean at times) and Blossom (who can be bossy at times), Ms. Keane (since she once took Octi away when Bubbles brought him to school), the Mayor (since he wanted Octi to himself once).
  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: Townsville Quality Discount Catering seems to otherwise live up to its name, as despite the owner's hygiene, only the banana cream pie ended up contaminated, and even that looked as well-crafted as the rest of the food.
  • The Calls Are Coming from Inside the House: Mojo makes his phone calls to Bubbles from inside the Utonium house.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Even Buttercup, who hates Octi with a passion, is shocked to hear that Mojo supposedly has Bubbles' precious belonging, and that it was the Professor who "killed" Octi.
  • Finger in the Mail: Played with — Octi’s lost arm looks to be this when Mojo calls Bubbles and claims he has Octi hostage, but in the end it turns out it had nothing to do with him, or this trope.
  • The Food Poisoning Incident: The banana cream pie Professor Utonium ordered from a sleazy catering service turns out to be spoiled. Mojo eats it, and gets sick as a result.
  • The Freelance Shame Squad: Bubbles became victim of this once when she brought Octi to school, and Mrs. Keane took him away from her because she wasn't paying attention in class.
  • Growling Gut: Mojo Jojo's stomach rumbles due to eating a poisoned banana cream pie.
  • Hypocritical Humor: The Mayor says he’s not a baby then he proceeds to blow a raspberry like one.
  • I Have Your Wife: Mojo claims he has Octi, and threatens to hurt him if he is not given 1000 gallons of chemical X.
  • Idiot Ball: Professor Utonium ordering food from a clearly unsanitary caterer.
  • Implausible Deniability: The Mayor denies being a baby.
Bubbles: And the Mayor because he's a big baby.
The Mayor: I am not a baby. (blows a raspberry)
  • Lost Toy Grievance: Provides the trope image; Bubbles is utterly broken by the loss of her favorite toy.
  • Kick the Dog: Blossom gives Bubbles a uncalled for and harsh "The Reason You Suck" Speech just because she wants to find Octi before going to bed. Said search, mind you, took under a minute.
  • Oh, Crap!: Mojo when he listens in on the conversation between Bubbles and the owner of Townsville Quality Discount Catering, and hears that the banana cream pie he has been eating is contaminated.
  • "Oh, Crap!" Smile: Professor Utonium when he tries to retrieve Octi's missing leg from the girls room, only to find out that Bubbles already discovered the missing leg.
  • The Pig-Pen: The owner of Townsville Quality Discount Catering, where Professor Utonium ordered the food for his party. He is covered in greaze and surrounded by tons of flies.
  • Real Women Don't Wear Dresses: Buttercup has this attitude towards girly party dresses.
  • The Reveal: The Professor was the one who accidentally dismembered Octi. He confesses his deed when Mojo starts pretending to have taken Octi hostage, thus proving Mojo’s threats to be false.
  • Sanity Slippage: Bubbles has one as she confronts everyone to see who stole Octi.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: Due to the Townsville Quality Discount Catering owner being The Pig-Pen above, something was bound to end up having food contamination, even if that something was apparently only the banana cream pie.
  • Toilet Humor: Mojo is implied to have gotten diarrhea after eating a toxic banana cream pie.
