Blossom thinks she's a shoo-in for the lead role in a school play. When the list comes out, it's Bubbles who wins the lead role. Blossom, resigned to playing a rock (with no dialogue at that), tries to sabotage Bubbles' appearance until a Viking queen shows up after being summoned from a book (from which the play's script comes) and takes the male lead Jared Shapiro to get married to her.
This episode contains examples of:
- Answer Cut: When Bubbles asks Blossom what part she got, the scene immediately cuts to Blossom dressed as Rock #3.
- Big Damn Kiss: Possibly averted. The final scene of the play calls for Jared to kiss Bubbles, who nervously turns to Blossom and yells "UNDERSTUDY!"
- Face–Heel Turn: Blossom temporarily goes through this. Upon hearing that she's Bubbles' understudy, she tricks Bubbles into going into a dark room and locks her in it.
- Green-Eyed Monster: Blossom becomes insanely jealous at Bubbles landing the lead. Buttercup even lampshades this when Blossom says that Bubbles isn't the right person for the role.
- Noodle Incident: When Blossom locks Bubbles in the boiler room, Buttercup tells her, "Dude, you gotta stop lockin' people in the boiler room closet.", implying that this isn't the first time Blossom locked someone up in there.
- Shout-Out: Blossom played the lead in previous plays that are parodies of real-life movies:
