Recap / The Omnitrix Hero S 2 E 6 Hot Rods and Hot Dates

Go To

After some pestering from Trixie, Flash decides to get back in the dating game with a blind dating site. But when he goes to meet up with his date, he ends up meeting someone he never thought he'd see again; the siren Adagio Dazzle. Meanwhile, the mad mechanic Dragstar uses alien tech he found to steal various cars around the city.

  • Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other: Even though the Dazzlings constantly argue and bicker with each other, Adagio speaks fondly about her sisters to Flash and admits that even if they drive her crazy she still cares about them.
  • Blackmail: Subverted with Adagio. After she learns Flash's secret, he expects her to blackmail him to keep quiet about it, but she actually says she thinks keeping secrets are more fun than letting everyone know. Though she does tell Flash she wants a proper date with him after Dragstar is taken care of to replace the one he ran out on.
  • Dating Catwoman: In a literal sense, Flash finds himself going on a date with Adagio Dazzle, an old enemy of the Rainbooms who brainwashed him and most of the school previously. Though it is played with a bit in that Adagio apparently isn't up to anything, and actually helps Flash defeat Dragstar.
  • Foreshadowing: Before Dragstar steals the first vehicle in the chapter, he says all it needs is an "upgrade". This is a big hint to what his alien technology actually is, which is revealed in "Glitches".
  • Forgotten First Meeting: Adagio initially does not remember Flash when the two meet up for their blind date. However, when she recognizes his hostility towards her she realizes they met before, and after he explains how she brainwashed him she realizes he goes to CHS.
  • Getting Crap Past the Radar: When Adagio looks up photos of Flash's alien forms, she finds one of Squidstrictor, and after looking over his tentacles wonders to herself if Flash would mind becoming that alien for... certain activities if they ever officially start a relationship.
  • Living Crashpad: Firefly wraps his wings around Twilight when they are shot out of the sky, protecting her from the impact.
  • The Load: Timber is the only member of the group that doesn't contribute to stopping Dragstar. Instead he just keeps whining about how crazy the whole situation is and how he wishes things could just be normal.
  • Secret-Keeper: Adagio Dazzle and Timber Spruce both learn Flash's secret and agree to be this for him. In Timber's case it is only because Twilight begged him to, and in Adagio's case it is because she thinks keeping secrets are more fun than telling everyone, if for immature reasons.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: Trixie only appears in a single flashback scene in this chapter, but she convinces Flash to make an account on the blind dating site after pestering him about it, which sets off the main plot with him messaging with Adagio for a week before they meet up for a date.
  • Too Much Alike: Trixie explains the dating site averts this by matching users that only have between sixty and eighty-five compatibility scores, since the site explains that differences in partners breed compatibility and have room for growth. Flash even remembers how Shining Armor explained something similar to him.
  • Troll: Trixie convinces Flash to create a profile for the blind dating site by threatening to make a profile for him herself and fill it with embarrassing or incorrect information about him and see what happens.
  • Ungrateful Bastard: Timber tries to call the cops on Firefly while he is unconscious, despite protecting him and everyone else from the real threat.
