Recap / The Omnitrix Hero S 2 E 12 Taking Flight

Go To

Canterlot sees the appearance of another new hero, calling herself Icarus. Flash, Trixie, and the Rainbooms decide to track her down to make sure the magic she has isn't dangerous, and discover that she has the Sky Butterfly Medallion. Unfortunately, Devious is after her too, and may be more than this newbie hero can handle.

  • Bittersweet Ending: More on the sweet than bitter side. Although Devious is defeated once again, he still manages to escape with his own medallion, and Fleetfoot had to give up her medallion to keep it out of Devious' hands. However, Fleetfoot is fine with the way things turned out, deciding she wasn't cut out to be a hero after-all and that Trixie will put the medallion to better use than she did, and now Trixie is even more powerful thanks to now having two medallions in her possession.
  • Dramatic Irony: When Devious learns about Icarus, he almost immediately realizes she has the Sky Butterfly Medallion, but the heroes spend a majority of their time thinking she has Equestrian Magic. It isn't until Trixie meets Fleetfoot face to face that she realizes her powers come from a medallion instead of Equestrian Magic.
  • Hope Spot: It briefly seems like Trixie and Fleetfoot managed to defeat Devious and knock him out together. But as soon as Trixie gets close to him to try to take the Radiant Dragon Medallion from him, he shoot awake and blasts her.
  • Identical Stranger: Flash notes how Fleetfoot looks a lot like Trixie, but with different hair. It almost looks like to him like he is looking at Trixie's twin... or more accurately triplet.
  • Secret-Keeper: Fleetfoot learns that Flash is the alien heroes and that Trixie is Lady Masquerade shortly after they discover her own identity as Icarus. This isn't a problem for them since they offer her to join their team, though after she gives up her powers they still trust her to keep their identities a secret.
  • Sixth Ranger: Subverted; after the group discovers that Fleetfoot is Icarus, Trixie offers her to join their team so she can keep being a hero until Trixie finds all the other medallions, so she doesn't have to take it from her immediately. Fleetfoot agrees to this and immediately assists everyone in the fight against Devious. But in the ensuing fight, Fleetfoot renounces the Sky Butterfly Medallion to stop Devious from getting it, and it goes to Trixie instead. Fleetfoot declines Trixie's offer to try to get it to re-bond to her, realizing she isn't cut out to be a superhero after her Near-Death Experience.
  • Took a Level in Badass: After Fleetfoot renounces the Sky Butterfly Medallion, it goes to Trixie as its next user. Trixie not only gains access to the same wings Fleetfoot had, she also gains a fencing sabre as a weapon, and can swap between this form and her Luna Cat form.
