- Did They or Didn't They?: After spending the whole day looking for a hidden place to have workplace sex, Jim and Pam are seen returning to their desks after a long absence in another room. Jim claims that they just took a walk, but their smiles suggest otherwise.
- Funny Background Event: Jim and Pam spend the entire episode drunk, and in the meeting in the conference room they are, unlike their normal poised selves, visibly about fifteen seconds behind everyone else and trying very hard to follow the conversation.
- Insane Troll Logic: When Michael is outright told that he and Holly can't show public affection in the office, he claims they will stop, but designate one of the closets (which is still in the office) as a hookup zone where anything goes, and any employee may participate.
- In Vino Veritas: Jim and Pam indulge themselves in bottomless champagne at their Valentine's Day lunch. Beyond just making them a little loud and loopier than usual, when they find out they're among the few employees who have never had intercourse in the office, they're actually inspired to look for a place to give it a shot.
- Jaw Drop: Jim reacts this way when Michael says he loves Holly and she’s initially surprised.
- Love Confession: Michael tells Holly that he loves her, which takes her aback as they've only been dating for a week. When he confirms that he really means it, Holly admits that she loves him too.
- Metaphorgotten: "Holly and I are like Romeo and Juliet, and this office is like the dragon that kept them apart."
- Oh, Crap!: Michael, when Gabe suggests that his and Holly's ravenous PDA's are them trying to fit in a whole relationship before Toby returns from jury duty and Holly has to return to Nashua.
- Relationship Upgrade: Michael and Holly both declare their love for each other. After Michael expresses wanting to break up so that they don't have to count down the days until Holly is transferred back to Nashua, Holly tells him that the company doesn't have to decide their future. This leads to them deciding to move in together, finally cementing their relationship.
