Michael and Dwight attend a convention in Philadelphia, where they meet with Jim and Josh. Pam goes on a date, for the first time in nine years. Michael tries to get people to attend his room party.

- Cannot Spit It Out: Toby finds out Pam is single and wants to ask her out. It never quite happens.
- Et Tu, Brute?: Michael feels this way towards Jim for most of the episode, considering it a betrayal that he left Scranton for Stamford. He gets over it once Jim finally explains to him that he transferred because of Pam rejecting him, not anything Michael did as boss.
- Fallback Marriage Pact: Parodied. In the Cold Open, Michael tries setting one up with Pam, but his goal isn't necessarily to get married, just to have children. After some haggling, Pam settles on "in 30 years", and can't believe Michael doesn't realize she will definitely not be able to bear children by then.
- Heroic BSoD: Subverted, by Jim.Jim: When I saw Dwight, I realized how stupid and petty all those pranks on him were. And then he spoke. I wonder how hard it would be to get a copy of his room key.
- Mistaken for Prostitute: When Jim sneaks into Dwight's room he finds a naked woman waiting on Dwight's bed. Jim runs off, laughingly declaring that Dwight bought a prostitute for the evening. It was actually Angela.
- The Mole: Played with. Dwight has a "connection" on the Scranton police force, and Michael asks if Dwight can dig up some dirt on Josh."He wasn't volunteering today."
- Overly Narrow Superlative: Josh Porter is known as "the poor man's Michael Scott" around Michael Scott's condo (where only Michael Scott lives).
