When Gloria has the house repainted, Felix sees an opportunity and invites her to the apartment for the weekend. Unfortunately, he doesn't tell Oscar until after he has put together a major poker game. The weekend dissolves as Felix's irritating characteristics ruin everyone's plans for the weekend, including his own.
This episode includes examples of the following tropes:
- Alcohol-Induced Idiocy: Downplayed; while drunk from drowning his sorrows, Felix mistakes which cards he has and does a number of goofy things, such as getting sidetracked from the game by the poem about the Queen of Hearts' tarts and making train noises while dealing cards.
- Bait-and-Switch Comment: When Oscar complains about Felix's behavior, Felix admits it's not fair for Oscar to have to put up with this in his own house...so he gives him money for a hotel room.
- Beginner's Luck: With Felix spending time with Gloria, the poker players deal in Murray's new partner, who claims that he's never played before. He proceeds to win every round until Murray sends him home to bed.
- Continuity Nod: Felix spits pits while drinking orange juice, just as he did in "Sleepwalker".
- Driven to Suicide: When Felix comes in disconsolate after Gloria threw him out, Oscar asks if he's planning anything crazy, like the last time. He takes the resulting tired scoff as permission to return to the game.
- Drowning My Sorrows: When Oscar and the others leave him in the hotel room after Gloria has thrown him out of the apartment, Felix drains the bottle of alcohol that Oscar left him.
- Forced from Their Home:
- Felix cheerfully pushes Oscar into getting a hotel room so he can work things out with Gloria in private.
- Later, Felix turns up at the hotel room, saying that Gloria threw him out.
- Shout-Out: When coaxing Oscar not to be a grumpy bear, Felix calls him "Gentle Ben."
