For once, the tables have turned — Felix's opera club cannot afford the rent money for the venue and costumes, and Felix begs his roommate for assistance in setting up a casino night for funding. When that backfires, Felix asks for a loan, only for Oscar to bet the money on a pool match with "Sure-Shot" Wilson.

- Exact Words: During Oscar's turn, Felix strikes up a conversation with "Sure-Shot" Wilson, a four-pack-a-day smoker. Felix says one of his uncles used to smoke four packs a day, but he died. After "Sure-Shot" has lost the match due to nerves, a conversation with Oscar reveals that Felix's uncle died in a car crash.
- Hypocritical Humor: When the casino night loses all the money it made Felix blames Oscar for advertising the event to professional gamblers. After Oscar points out Felix's culpability in not ending it on time (before luck could run out), Felix says that there's no point in trying to assign blame.
- Implied Death Threat: While Oscar is practicing, Felix sees the guard holding the moneybag seemingly asleep and goes to make sure the money is safe. As he draws near, the man pulls a gun out.
- Running Gag: One of the opera club members, Vivian, keeps nagging Felix about her wig for the production.
- Shout-Out: When Felix begs him to set up and run the casino night, Oscar sarcastically says that he can do it as soon as he runs into a phone booth and tells Lois Lane that the date's off.

However, Felix doesn't, hoping to make enough to fund two operas. Immediately thereafter, one gambler wins a large bet, wiping out the opera fund completely.
- That Came Out Wrong: Initially, Oscar suggests that one of the opera group set up casino night. Felix declines, saying that they're decent people. He immediately backtracks.
