Release: July 12, 2016

Film: Alvin and the Chipmunks

Tagline: The hit that launched a thousand squeakquels. Is this CGI abomination as bad as everyone says?

This review provides examples of:

  • The Cameo: Rob Scallon appears alongside the Critic and Jim as the "Chipmunks".
  • Cuteness Proximity: Pretty much the "Aww Girls" in a nutshell. In fact, they're so much this that when the Critic and his crew try to debate that the original was better, they tell them no, they're not debating. They honestly don't care about plot, characters, effects, or effort, they just want to watch cute things. This actually offsets the Critic since he was hoping to debate and work off their personalities to do so.
  • N-Word Privileges: The Critic's joke on Dave saying "rodent" in front of a bunch of chipmunks.
Critic (as Alvin): That's our word, dickslice!
  • Rage Quit: The Critic notices the differences in the poop eating scene between the trailer (Alvin doing it) and the actual movie (Simon doing it) and imagines what led to that change. It has an audio recording of Alvin raging at the producers and leaving off in a storm.
  • Rule of Cute: The Analysts' reason for why the series does so much success is cause of the "Aww Girls," who come just to see the Chipmunks do cute things regardless of the quality of plot or acting, and belittle the Critic for liking the 1987 animated film, which they call dated.
  • Shout-Out: The Critic and his buddies face off against the "Aww Girls" in a shot-for-shot recreation of the "Girls and Boys of Rock and Roll" sequence from The Chipmunk Adventure.
  • Take That!: The Critic once again takes a jab at Donald Trump when Simon makes a remark that reeks of Fantastic Racism.
Critic (as Simon): We need to build a wall, Dave.
  • They Killed Kenny Again: Once again, the two chart guys and Michael Bay explode after the former falls into the latter. However, they reappear at the end, unharmed.
  • Vanilla Protagonist: Invoked in-universe with Alvin, who is way blander than the Small Name, Big Ego that he was before.
  • Your Costume Needs Work: When the Critic, wearing Alvin's clothes, has Rob Scallon and Jim dress up as Simon and Theodore respectively, Jim has a gray shirt on instead of Theodore's usual green, though he explains it's because he's "colorblind." note
