Release: December 6, 2011

Film: Babes in Toyland (1986)

This review contains examples of:

  • Catchphrase Interruptus: First by the Critic's head exploding, and again by the ghost singing Louis Armstrong.
  • Didn't We Use This Joke Already?: The ghost hijacks a sketch to tell the Critic that Handsome Tom should be in the Tiny Tim role for the Christmas Carol parody he wants to do, playing off his height. He compares the gag to the Willow joke in Suburban Knights.
Critic: (yelling) It'll be exactly like the Willow joke!
Ghost: Yes, but it's Christmas, so we'll be forgiven.
  • Fast-Forward Gag: As the Toy Master starts to sing "Eyes of a Child", the Critic gets fed up with the "Santa fortune cookie shit" and uses a remote to speed up the song and quickly get to Lisa bringing the toy soldiers to life.
Critic: I'm just gonna skip to the part where she overcomes her obstacles that they forgot to have written in.
  • Notice This: As the toy soldiers battle Barnaby's forces, the Critic brings up "their obviously falling off masks", and a green arrow appears on screen to point it out.
  • Review Ironic Echo: Critic plays a clip of the store manager asking "what the heck is that?" as a response to some weird or stupid scenes.
  • Sequel Hook: "Next week's The Grinch!"
  • So Bad, It's Good:invoked The Critic's opinion of the movie, saying it's fun despite how bad it is.
  • Yet Another Christmas Carol: Averted, though attempted; when The Critic tells the ghost that he loves Christmas, the ghost still tries to get The Critic to play along anyway.

Obscurus Lupa: (removing tape from her mouth) You know, maybe this isn't the best way to get into character.
"Over my dead butt!"
