- Accentuate the Negative: Though the Critic dismisses everything aside from the actual "Smooth Criminal" musical number as crap, Doug and Rob both admit in the commentary that they actually did like the "Speed Demon" and "Leave Me Alone" videos as well due to their creative imagery, though Doug stands by his criticism of the former video as being a little too bizarre just for the sake of it, and the latter being completely hypocritical. Both also admit that there's nothing really wrong with the "Badder" segment per se, though they don't understand the point of it, and that while the overall "Smooth Criminal" segment does have some neat ideas and cool imagery, the story was severely under-developed.
- Gushing About Shows You Like: While Critic disliked most of the movie, he had zero problems with the "Smooth Criminal" sequence.
- In the episode's commentary, Doug and Rob admit that it may have to do with them being from/growing up in Chicago.
- Mondegreen Gag: Invoked. The Critic posts what he thinks Michael Jackson is singing during "Smooth Criminal".
