Recap / The Nostalgia Critic Editorial 28

Release: February 25, 2014

Focus: Why movies are such Serious Business

The editorial contains example of:

  • Artistic License – History: Rectified in-universe. In his Pearl Harbor review, the Critic believed the movie's scene of a sailor saying he couldn't swim was an insult to the U.S. Navy. Turns out the movie got that one right, as U.S. sailors weren't required to know how to swim until 1945. This mistake is addressed in this editorial, though he's still not happy about how it's glanced over, instead of being delved into for emotional depth.
  • Call-Back: The Critic believes it's good to analyse the problems with a movie at it can help others tell better stories in future productions. During this, he looks back at rant from his review of Peal Harbor with some degree of awkwardness:
Critic: "And yes sometimes people can take it a...bit...too...far..."
*Cuts to his rant from his review of Peal Harbor*
Critic: "You son of a BIIIIIITCH!"
    *Cuts back to editorial*
Critic: "...but the more we show our passion for it, the more we show how much it means to us."
  • Hypocritical Humor: After condescending that it's your own problem if you get hurt by a movie, he says that if he gets upset with a movie then that's allowed.
