Recap / The New Adventures Of Winnie The Pooh S 4 E 5 Home Is Where The Home Is

Go To

Christopher Robin breaks a family heirloom and runs away from home, terrified of the consequences. He tries to move in with the other residents of the Hundred-Acre-Wood, but when they fail to provide him sufficient housing, he decides to leave the Wood altogether.

This episode contains examples of:

  • An Aesop: Be willing to take responsibility for your mistakes, as trying to bury or escape the problem will only make it worse.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Christopher Robin learns his lesson that he must return home and face the consequences of his actions. Fitting for his final appearance in the series, he learns an important lesson about growing up.
  • Continuity Nod: Tigger once again gives Piglet an unwanted addition to his house; in "Rabbit Marks the Spot" he gave him a basement, while here he gives him a back door after running at full speed to get Christopher Robin out.
  • Disney Acid Sequence: Tigger has one where he fantasizes about ordering Christopher Robin's toys to put themselves up. They instead become hostile towards him, and when Tigger returns to reality, he only made the mess worse.
  • Expressive Accessory: During Tigger's Imagine Spot, the toys have smiling faces as they do their usual stuff; when Tigger orders them to put themselves away, they get angry expressions.
  • I Will Find You: Eeyore tracks down Christopher Robin and Pooh once he sees them running away. Rabbit, Tigger, and Piglet try to as well, but they ultimately retreat home.
  • Only Sane Man: Eeyore is the only one who recognizes from the start that Christopher Robin must return home instead of running away.
  • Put on a Bus: This is Christopher Robin's last appearance in the series.
  • The Runaway: Christopher Robin runs away from home and convinces Pooh to go with him.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Christopher Robin runs away from home after breaking the bust, but then he decides to even run away from the Wood after nobody can come up with a decent house for him.
  • Sequel Episode: To this season's earlier installment "Grown But Not Forgotten". It deals with a heavier theme regarding Christopher Robin learning to grow up and face more mature things like consequences for his actions, and is also a double-length episode. The friends also build Christopher Robin his own home with similarly disastrous results. It's no wonder the pair of episodes were bundled together for the Pooh: Learning video titled "Growing Up".
  • Status Quo Is God: Eeyore gets the new makeshift house, but it's immediately destroyed to keep up with his usual bad luck with houses.
  • A Storm Is Coming: The second half of the episode starts with storm clouds gathering. It develops into a rainstorm as the episode goes on and Christopher Robin goes on to run away, and it doesn't clear up until he realizes he must go home.
