Recap / The New Adventures Of Winnie The Pooh S 2 E 4 Alls Well That Ends Wishing Well

Go To

Tigger realizes he’s never had a birthday and thus has one thrown for him. He becomes too excited by the prospect of having his birthday wish fulfilled, however, and gets himself and his friends trapped in a fantastical world within a wishing well.

This episode contains examples of the following tropes.

  • Birthday Episode: The plot starts because Tigger realizes he hasn’t had a birthday before, and his friends decide to celebrate it.
  • Brick Joke: During Tigger's wishing practice, he lists a desire for lima beans, which he finds disgusting. Later when Pooh reunites with the group in Wishland, Tigger accidentally wishes for lima beans.
Tigger: Lima beans? Yuck! How'd they get in here again?
  • Distant Reaction Shot: When Tigger is opening the present containing the homemade pogo stick his friends made for him, it cuts to the others hearing his excited "ya-hoo!"
  • I Choose to Stay: In the wishing well world, Tigger nearly chooses this twice, first thinking that all the stuff he's wished is worth them never going home, then again when he offers to wish the others home. Surprisingly, it's Pooh who points out that he'd be alone forever.
  • Make a Wish: Central plot element of the episode, especially once the gang (sans Eeyore) are in the wishing well's world.
    • Selfless Wish: Some of Tigger's in the well world are partial examples, wishing for acorns, (GIANT) carrots, and a giant pot of honey for his friends. He makes a real one to use the last candle to wish them home. It's not discussed if using the last candle, regardless of wish, would've sent them home anyway.
  • Mass Oh Bother!: Combined with Borrowed Catchphrase, after Tigger runs off, excited for today being his first birthday and listing all the stuff he'd wish for, Rabbit, Eeyore, and Piglet join Pooh in an "Oh, bother!"
  • No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: Rabbit helps make a pogo stick for Tigger...who then bounces through Rabbit's garden with it, unintentionally messing up his carrot patch in the process.
  • Power Limiter: Tigger can only make wishes as long as there are candles still lit on the giant cake.
  • Rhymes on a Dime: Tigger's constant long lists of birthday wishes.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: For this episode only, banana split, to go along with his pogo stick.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: Eeyore disappears from the episode after Piglet, Rabbit, and Tigger are dropped into the well. He doesn't even reappear in the epilogue.
  • Wishing Well: Tigger drops a penny in a wishing well, but is disappointed when he doesn't get what he wished for at his birthday party. Later, everyone goes down the well and end up in Wishland, where all of Tigger's wishes come true.
