Recap / The New Adventures Of Winnie The Pooh S 1 E11a Nothing But The Tooth

Go To

Winnie the Pooh wakes up, but slips on some marbles. Piglet enters and greets him, then also slips on the marbles. After a bit of chaos, Pooh gets up but is poked by something. He thinks it's a tooth-shaped marble, but then Piglet determines it's an actual tooth. He then wonders if it's Pooh's "sweet tooth", since he hasn't eaten any honey since the marble incident, and must get it back in order to eat more.

Pooh goes to Rabbit, who tries to tie the tooth back into Pooh's mouth, but ties it around his snout instead. He then plants it in the garden next to the "sweet" plants, but then they both fall into one of Gopher's tunnels and lose the tooth.

They, plus Gopher, enter his workshop to find it's been ransacked by the Pack Rats, who stole several things (including the tooth) to trade for walnuts. Owl finds the tooth and trades it for a bobble on his doorbell chain, but the Pack Rats steal it again and replace it with another walnut. Pooh, Piglet, Rabbit, and Gopher track the Pack Rats down, who hide the tooth behind their backs. Pooh finds the tooth and snatches it up.

Later, Pooh tells Christopher Robin about the tooth, who reveals that it's actually his not Pooh's. Christopher Robin lets Pooh hide the tooth for the Tooth Fairy, which he does, and he gets honey.

This episode contains examples of the following tropes.

  • Harmless Villains: The Packrats are thieves who replace the items they steal with walnuts as their Calling Card.
  • Insane Troll Logic: Piglet concludes that the tooth is Pooh's "sweet tooth" just because he hasn't eaten any honey lately.
  • Literal-Minded: Pooh and Piglet think a sweet tooth is a literal tooth that enables one to eat sugar.
  • Maybe Magic, Maybe Mundane: It's never revealed if the tooth fairy is real.
  • Pun-Based Title: The episode's title is a pun on "nothing but the truth".
  • Slapstick: Pooh and Piglet slip around on marbles.
  • Too Dumb to Fool: The Packrats tell Pooh that he can keep the tooth if he can correctly guess where they hid it, but they will keep his watch if he fails. Following Piglet's advice, Pooh decides to look in the "last place first". Pooh says that the last place he would look would be behind the lead Packrat's back, because that would be cheating, so he chooses there. The Packrats sadly hand him the tooth.
  • Tooth Fairy: Discussed when Pooh leaves the tooth out for the Tooth Fairy, but it's unclear if the fairy exists or if someone else (perhaps Christopher Robin) gave him the honey.
  • You Dirty Rat!: The Packrats are evil, thieving rats.
