This episode has examples of

  • Banana Peel: During the Muppet Labs sketch, Bunsen cites banana peels' slipperiness as one of their flaws. Beaker promptly demonstrates by slipping on a dropped peel.
  • Bankruptcy Barrel: Statler and Walforf in The Stinger, after the prairie dogs steal all their clothes.
  • Brown Bag Mask: Worn by Kermit when the Prairie Dogs steal his collar.
  • Edible Ammunition: The "Banana Sharpener" turns bananas into throwing weapons.
  • Fluffy Fashion Feathers: Crystal, on learning that the prairie dogs have stolen Kermit's collar, tries putting a feather boa around his neck as a substitute. It doesn't help.
Kermit: Well, I don't know. I feel kind of dumb.
    Crystal: No, not at all.
[The prairie dogs walk in and start giggling at Kermit.]
Prairie Dog #1: Boy, do you look dumb!
  • I Want My Mommy!: When Link Hogthrob and First Mate Piggy find out that the Swinetrek has been invaded by Dearth Nadir, Piggy asks Link what they're going to do.
Link: What can we do? [into phone] Link's mommy wanted on the bridge!
  • Karma Houdini: The prairie dogs never get any comeuppance for stealing everything.
  • Knife Outline: Dr. Honeydew testing out the results of his "Banana Sharpener" by slingshotting the bananas at the wall Beaker is standing against results in this.
  • Musicalis Interruptus: "The Best Things in Life Are Free" is cut short by Fozzie as Bear on Patrol, with the number then degrading into a full blown Bear on Patrol sketch.
  • Our Nudity Is Different: Kermit is considered naked without his collar, even though it never covered much of anything.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: Who is Dearth Nadir? Just look at that nose...
  • The Runaway: Crystal sings that she's "running away down River Road." A conversation with an old woman she meets on the road changes her mind.
Old Woman: You look like you're running away.
    Crystal: Sure am.
Old Woman: Yeah. I ran away, in 1924.
    Crystal: What happened?
Old Woman: Eh, I'm still running. I sleep on the hard ground every night. Haven't changed my socks since World War II. Last night, for dinner, I ate a fence post.
[Crystal turns around and starts back for home.]
  • Sticky Fingers: As Scooter notes, the Prairie Dogs must have pack rat blood in 'em. They steal everything, and by the end of the episode have stripped everyone down to their underclothes.
  • Suddenly Speaking: Beaker finally speaks his first clear words in the Muppet Labs sketch: "Bye bye!"
  • You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: First Mate Piggy's reaction when she realizes the identity of Dearth Nadir is to make a face at the audience, shake her head, and say, "Oh, good grief."

Waldorf: [wearing a barrel] Well, so much for the prairie dogs.
Statler: [also wearing a barrel] Yeah, now we gotta worry about termites!
