This episode has examples of

  • Ash Face: The Swedish Chef is left with blackened, tattered clothes after he opens a coconut and finds a bomb in it.
  • Cartoon Bomb: The Swedish Chef skit where he's trying to open up a coconut. Immediately afterward, Statler lampshades this episode's repeated usage of bombs.
Statler: Now, wait just a minute! That's the second time tonight they've used a bomb joke!
[Waldorf picks up a bomb, which blows up.]
    Waldorf: Three's the charm!
  • Emergency Cargo Dump: Two for the price of one!
    • In "Pigs in Space", Link informs Piggy that the Swinetrek is losing altitude and they have to jettison something... or rather, someone. Piggy isn't having any of it.
    • The Muppet News Flash for the week is about a plane carrying the London Symphony having to drop some of the instruments — one of which, the piano, falls on the Newsman.
  • Goofy Suit: For the opening number, Jaye P. has to change costumes three times before Kermit is satisfied. The last change is into a silly bird costume.
  • I Resemble That Remark!: The episode's At the Dance sketch has the dancers accuse their partner of various things, often resulting in this trope. For example, one woman accuses her partner of not being able to take criticism.
Partner: Oh, that's a low-down, rotten lie! What do you mean, I can't take criticism...?
  • Obligatory Joke: After the opening number "Tweedle Dee", Waldorf comments that "it was for the birds".
Statler: You had to do that joke, huh?
Waldorf: Well, one of us had to, and I lost the toss.
  • Open Mouth, Insert Foot: Poor Kermit forgets to watch his words when complaining about J.P., Scooter's uncle, while Jaye P. is in hearing range. He attempts to explain, but J.P. shows up then. "I think I just put both feet in my mouth."
  • Piano Drop: In the Muppet Newsflash sketch, the Newsman reports that a charter flight carrying the London Symphony Orchestra was forced to jettison some of the musical instruments — including, apparently, a piano that falls on his desk.
  • Running Gag: There are more explosions than usual in this episode.
  • Somebody Set Us Up The Bomb: Kermit inadvertently does this to Jaye. P when he gives her a cake that was actually made by Crazy Harry.
  • Stuff Blowing Up: Kermit and Jaye P. actually talk about it. Kermit claims that the explosions are one of the show's trademarks.

Statler: I wonder if anybody watches this show besides us.
[Statler turns and sees Waldorf is sleeping.]
Statler: Besides me.
