This episode has examples of

  • Accent Depundent: Invoked Trope. The security guard sketch centers entirely around Rowlf mishearing Nabor's commands to surrender for trespassing as a request to produce some animal (which he invariably does) because of Nabor's thick southern accent.
  • Comedic Underwear Exposure: During "Gone With the Wind," a windstorm is brewing and getting stronger. Not only are Jim's partner and the scenery blown away, but his pants fall down, revealing that Jim wears polka-dot boxers.
  • Comically Missing the Point: When Scooter arrives and announces that he's the troupe's new gofer, Kermit, used to being surrounded by frogs and pigs and chickens, initially thinks he's claiming to be a gopher.
  • Currency Cuisine: At the end of the song "Money", Dr. Teeth pulls a lever on his keyboard, causing it to spew dollar bills, which he begins to consume. He is later shown wiping his mouth as he heads backstage.
  • Determinator: Jim continues to sing "Gone With the Wind," in spite of the increasing storm blowing away his partner and the scenery.
  • Feghoot: Two dog Muppets, Rowlf and Baskerville, sing a song telling a melancholy tale that turns out to be building up to a pun on the phrase "dog eat dog".
  • Flying Saucer: In the Newsflash segment, a gas-station attendant, played by Jim, reports on one of these having landed at the station.
Jim: They didn't want no gas. They just wanted to use the restroom. Can't say as I blame 'em. Said they'd traveled eighty-three million miles without a stop.
  • Goofy Print Underwear: Jim is wearing polka-dot boxers when his pants fall down from the fierce wind during the "Gone With the Wind" number.
  • Hairstyle Malfunction: The wind in "Gone With the Wind" blows away Jim's partner's wig, leaving her bald.
  • Lame Pun Reaction: Statler makes a joke about Jim being a good neighbor that gets a disgruntled reaction from Waldorf.
  • Money Song: The first number, done by Dr. Teeth, is "Money."
  • Nepotism: How Scooter gets the job of go-fer.
Kermit: Listen, kid, I'm sorry, but you're too young, you don't have any experience, and I don't have any money for it in the budget.
Scooter: Yeah, well, my uncle owns this theater.
Kermit: Uh... you start today, get me a cup of coffee, your salary is twenty a week. [into the intercom] Stand by for the next number!
Scooter: Could you make it twenty-five?
Kermit: ARE YOU KIDDING? I CAN'T AFFORD IT!
Scooter: Gee, my uncle will be really disappointed.
    Kermit: How about thirty?
  • Side Bet: The stinger at the end of the episode reveals that Statler and Waldorf have a running bet about whether the Muppets will get all the way through the show without some disaster befalling them.
  • Toilet Humor: When it's time for Fozzie's comedy act, Kermit introduces him as "the man who thinks that Elton John is a singing bathroom".

Waldorf: Pay up. They made it through another one.
Statler: Double or nothing, next week's show?
Waldorf: You're on!
