Clancy interviews the president in the middle of a zombie apocalypse.

Episode's guest: Drew Pinsky.

Tropes:

  • A Rotten Time to Revert: In the finale, Clancy, Glasses Man, Peggy, and her baby all end up getting infected and becoming zombies. Moments later, the mall scientists arrive in a fleet of jeeps with a cure for the zombie infection loaded into dart guns, and open fire on the horde: the cure works perfectly... but unfortunately, there aren't enough darts for everyone, so the cured characters end up regaining their humanity right in the middle of a crowd of zombies - and promptly being eaten alive. Clancy and Glasses Man are among them, though Clancy is able to exit the simulated world before he can suffer fatal injuries.
  • All There in the Manual: Peggy (the pregnant woman) is only named in the credits and IMDB.
  • Battle Couple: Peggy and her boyfriend fight their way through hordes of zombies with ease; things only go wrong when the two of them are separated, resulting in the boyfriend getting swarmed and decapitated.
  • Contemplate Our Navels: Clancy and Glasses Man spend most of the episode having an introspective conversation about mind-expanding drugs, mindfulness, and meditation.
  • Epic Fail: Chuck Charles gets a very dramatic introduction in which he bursts into the mall and opens the door of his monster truck to present himself, complete with a Lock-and-Load Montage... and he's immediately swarmed by zombies and eaten alive before he can do anything.
  • Guys Smash, Girls Shoot: Peggy is armed with a handgun, while her boyfriend wields a butcher knife.
  • Hamster-Wheel Power: The mall is powered by a carousel pulled by zombies. Unfortunately, Chuck Charles ends up accidentally releasing them in his big entrance.
  • Higher Understanding Through Drugs: Deconstructed. Clancy and Glasses Man discuss the ways that psychedelic drugs can produce visionary and transcendent experiences, but can just as easily produce negative experiences. Despite all their talk of epiphanic experiences with drugs, neither man comes across as terribly enlightened.
  • Improvised Weapon: When one of the zombies proves resistant to Glasses Man's barrage of gunfire, Clancy blasts it with a jet from the White House's coffee cistern.
  • Irony: Clancy talks about mindfulness at length, but seems oblivious to the gory zombie apocalypse. Glasses Man stresses the importance of dealing with reality on reality's terms, but seems unconcerned about the horrifying reality around him.
  • Jar Potty: The Oval Office contains several water cooler jugs full of urine.
  • Kick the Dog: Glasses Man shows no gratitude to his obsequious assistant, and doesn't even notice when zombies devour him.
  • Must Have Caffeine: Glasses Man pours himself two cups of coffee before playing pool. Clancy is shown sipping a cup of coffee in the opening scene, and later pours copious amounts of coffee directly into his mouth from the White House coffee cistern.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: After the Giant Zombie breaks into the mall, Chuck Charles arrives to save the survivors. Trouble is, his Dynamic Entry via monster truck punches right through the barricade around the mall, letting more zombies into the building, and swerving around the interior only results in him killing several survivors, accidentally releasing the zombies from the carousel, and generally making a mess of the defences. And when Charles finally gets out of his truck, he's immediately dragged to the ground and bitten.
  • Pet the Dog:
    • When Clancy and Glasses Man are hiding from the zombie hordes in the forest, Glasses Man gets cold. Clancy cuddles him to keep him warm.
    • Clancy and Glasses Man discover a pregnant woman in labor in their vehicle. They pull over, and Clancy finds the woman a swimming pool so that she can have the water birth she wanted.
  • Pregnant Badass: Peggy the pregnant woman doesn't let her impending labor stop her from performing acrobatic combat moves and shooting zombies. After she gives birth in a kiddie pool, she and her newborn quickly get back on their feet and flee from the zombie hordes.
  • Undeath Is Cheap: At the end of the episode, scientists find a cure for zombification and cure several people by shooting them with antidote-filled darts. It doesn't do much good, since many of the cured people are devoured by zombies shortly after their recovery.
  • Unusually Uninteresting Sight: A zombie apocalypse is taking place as Clancy and Glasses Man discuss drugs, mindfulness, and Buddhism.
  • While Rome Burns: Glasses Man plays pool, drinks coffee, and takes part in Clancy's interview while zombies are besieging the world.
  • Zombie Apocalypse: Clancy visits a world in which a zombie apocalypse is taking place.
  • Zombie Gait: Lampshaded by Clancy, who jokes that he and Glasses Man could just stand still and not be in danger from the slow-moving zombies.
  • Zombie Infectee: Glasses Man is bitten on the leg by a zombie during a scuffle, but it takes several minutes for him to transform into one.
