Go To

The twenty-third episode of the second season of The Looney Tunes Show.

Daffy and Porky go on a road trip to a wedding that Porky has been invited to.

This episode provides examples of:

  • 555: Lola's phone number is listed as 555-555-0101
  • Accordion Man: Happens to Wile E. Coyote when he slinks down a wall he flies into in a failed attempt to catch Road Runner.
  • Big "NO!": Daffy's reaction to a buzzard stealing Bugs' watch.
  • Brick Joke: Daffy's upgrade to a better room behind Porky's back is brought back up in The Stinger:
Porky: Four thousand dollars? For a standard room?
  • The Cameo: Bugs encounters Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner in the desert.
  • Circling Vultures: While waiting with the car for Porky in the desert, Daffy spots a buzzard overhead. It winds up stealing his watch (which he borrowed from Bugs).
  • Friendship Moment: At the wedding reception, Porky thanks Daffy for trying to help him and says he's a good friend. Daffy responds by saying he will continue to help Porky search for the love of his life no matter how long it takes.
  • Generic Graffiti: While Porky is off getting gas, Daffy spray-paints "DAFFY RULES!" on his car so that nobody else would graffiti it.
Daffy: It's called a deterrent, Porky.
  • The Load: Daffy fits this trope to a T in this episode. First, he takes Bugs' new watch to the desert so he can have something to wear at Becky Hogg's wedding. Then, on their way to the wedding, Porky stops at a gas station to use the bathroom and gives Daffy money for gas. Daffy instead uses said money to buy snacks, magazines, and a lottery ticket. He messes up the inside of Porky's car by opening his bag of potato chips and putting his cup of soda on the dashboard against Porky's wishes, shorting out his cell phone's battery in the process. When Porky's car runs out of gas, he makes Porky run to the gas station and back for a gas can (and also blames Porky for not giving him more money for gas). While he waits a long time for Porky to get back (spray-painting "DAFFY RULES!" on his car to pass the time), he worries that Porky might have been killed, so he uses what little energy he has left in his cell phone's battery to call Bugs to tell him he and Porky are stranded in the desert, and he loses Bugs' watch to a buzzard, resulting in Bugs getting stranded himself. Then, when Porky finally does get back with the gas, Daffy is able to recharge his battery and texts Bugs that he and Porky are just fine. This episode's end tag also implies that Daffy spent $4,000.00 on services in the hotel room he and Porky stayed in.
  • Love at First Sight: Between Porky and Petunia near the end.
  • Never My Fault:
    • After the cup of soda that he put on the dashboard in Porky's car spills and ruins his cell phone, Daffy claims that it's not his fault because the dashboard doesn't have a cup holder.
Porky: (gesturing towards cup holder) There's a cup holder RIGHT HERE!
Daffy: Who would put their cup THERE? No. (patting the dashboard) THIS is where you wanna put your cup. This car was designed by idiots. You gotta do more research before making big purchases like a car, Porky.
    • Then the car runs out of gas because Porky gave Daffy money to get gas while he used the bathroom at the gas station, and Daffy instead blew it on snacks, magazines and a lottery ticket. And yet, Daffy blames Porky for not giving him more money.
  • No, You Hang Up First: During the drive home, Porky is going through this with Petunia. Sick of this nonsense, Daffy throws the phone away and remarks Porky being a perpetual sadsack may've been preferable to this.
  • Pet the Dog: When asked, Wile E. Coyote points Bugs in the direction of the highway.
  • Sanity Slippage: Bugs goes through this while in the desert trying to find the highway.
  • Species Surname: Subverted. It turns out that Becky Hogg is a human woman, much to Daffy's surprise.
  • Tempting Fate:
    • When Porky's car starts running low on gas, Daffy insists that they not turn around and head back to the gas station because they don't have time and tells Porky that the light doesn't mean anything ("You can drive like two or three miles with that light."). Cue the car immediately running out of gas, leaving them stranded.
    • At the wedding reception, Daffy swears he will help Porky find the love of his life, going on about how it will obviously be a female pig. Porky balks at the suggested stereotype and says it's not like he's fall in love with the first female pig he encounters, only to spot Petunia across the room and be at a loss for words.
  • Wedding Episode: This episode involves Porky attending the wedding of Becky Hogg, and Daffy comes along to try to get Becky to marry him.
