Go To

The thirteenth episode of the second season of The Looney Tunes Show.

When Tina's father Frank comes to visit, Daffy pretends to be a lawyer to impress him, as per the suggestion of Lola, while Bugs has to pretend to be Daffy's slacker roommate.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Blatant Lies: When Yosemite Sam comes to Daffy to help him sue Pizzarriba for burning the roof of his mouth on a slice of pizza, he claims that he can't talk anymore, to which Daffy points out that he's talking right now. Then, when Sam says he can't taste anything anymore, he tastes Daffy's banana milkshake and compliments how delicious it is.
  • Brick Joke:
    • Daffy installs a disco ball in his bedroom when he decides to turn it into a nightclub. Bugs discovers the switch when he decides to stay in Daffy's bedroom to get into character. In the epilogue, Bugs, Daffy, Lola, Tina, Sam and Speedy are all seen dancing in Daffy's bedroom.
    • When Bugs pretends to be Daffy's slacker roommate, he reads Daffy's diary, which says that Daffy wears a toupee. When Daffy reveals the truth to Frank at the end of the episode, Frank asks him if he has any other secrets he's hiding from him. Daffy then pulls his toupee off.
  • "Could Have Avoided This!" Plot: Daffy pretends to be a lawyer to impress Frank, and has Bugs pretend to be his slacker roommate. However, Daffy becomes too busy with his new job to spend time with Tina and Frank, the latter of whom enjoys spending time with Bugs. If Daffy had just acted like his normal self, Frank would have liked him.
  • Didn't Think This Through:
    • When Daffy pretends to be a lawyer, he finds out that he can't sleep in until noon like he used to be able to, as he has to be at his desk by 6:30 A.M..
    • When Daffy has Bugs pretend to be his slacker roommate, he didn't count on Bugs deciding to stay in his bedroom, specifically to help him get into character.
    • As a result of his new lawyer job, Daffy is unable to spend time with Tina and Frank and has to work instead.
  • Dumbass Has a Point:
    • Lola convinces Daffy that he can't avoid Frank forever if he ever wants to marry Tina. It's actually one of the rare moments in the series where she doesn't say anything looney at all.
    • When Yosemite Sam comes to Daffy to help him sue Pizzarriba for burning the roof of his mouth on a slice of pizza, Daffy asks him why he didn't just blow on the pizza. Sam tells him that nobody told him to.
  • Frivolous Lawsuit: Yosemite Sam attempts to sue Pizzarriba for burning the roof of his mouth on a slice of pizza. He was inspired by a story where a lady won a million dollars for suing someone for burning her tongue on a cup of hot coffee. Speedy ends up winning the case simply by pointing out that Daffy is not a real lawyer.
  • Medium Awareness: This exchange when Yosemite Sam is Daffy's client:
Sam: I didn't know you were a lawyer.
    Daffy: I am this week.
  • Noodle Incident: When Tina asks Daffy why he's pretending to be a laywer, Daffy tells her that every father wants their daughter to be married to either a doctor or a lawyer, and he couldn't pretend to be a doctor, because the last time he did that, he almost killed someone.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: This episode reveals that Yosemite Sam's real name is Samuel Rosenbaum.
  • Shout-Out: While pretending to be a lawyer, Daffy asks Lola if she can get Judge Judy on the line.
  • Swapped Roles: This episode has Daffy pretend to be a lawyer to impress Frank while Bugs pretends to be Daffy's slacker roommate.
  • Way Past the Expiration Date: While pretending to be Daffy's slacker roomate, Bugs finds an old slice of pizza in Daffy's chair and says "Huh, would you look at that? No tellin' how old this is!" before offering it to Frank, who declines.
