Summary: When tales of a mysterious creature plague the Pride Lands, the Guard must conquer their fears and track down the elusive beast.
This episode contains examples of:
- An Aesop: It’s ok to be afraid, but there are times when you should face your fears.
- Ghost Story: Rafiki's tale of the Zimwi.
- Halloween Episode: The episode's premise is the Guard tracking an alleged monster after Rafiki tells a scary story.
- Meaningful Name: "Zimwi" means "ogre" in Swahili. Though the description of the beast doesn't really match that of a traditional ogre (having eight legs, for example), it's still intimidating enough to scare the children.
- Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Rafiki and Bunga both end up scaring everyone in the Pridelands by telling them a story about the Zimwi.
- Our Cryptids Are More Mysterious: The Zimwi is portrayed in this way, being a creature that, while completely made up by Rafiki, is believed by many (including, for a while, the Lion Guard) to be real.
- Screw This, I'm Outta Here: The genets decide it’s a good time to leave after Bunga scares them by telling them about the Zimwi.
- What the Hell, Hero?: Kion, Fuli, and Beshte all call Bunga out for scaring the genets off when he tells them about the Zimwi.
