• Always a Bigger Fish: To defeat Rezzoch, Jack rallies his friends and allies to drag her to the junkyard and let Scrapken take care of her. Rezzoch puts up a fight against the monster but eventually goes down.
• Chekhov's Gun: The trophy from Tournament of the Dead is used by Quint as an improvised ammunition for his giant crossbow. It fails to stop Rezzoch for long, though.
• Hope Spot: The kids learn that there is at least one group of survivors in New York, and that this group has picked up radio broadcasts from other pockets of human survivors.
• One-Winged Angel: Rezzoch fuses the King Wretch that she already possessed with two regular wretches to become an even more powerful, three-headed wretch capable of firing energy orbs.
• Sequel Hook: The final scene of the episode shows another human girl (who is, in fact, Evie Stark from Book 4, for those fans who had read the TLKOE books), riding the giant monster Meathook as she arrives in town.
• Shout-Out: When Dirk sees the fight between Rezzoch and the junkyard monster, he says "Let them fight."
