"Opposite Day"

Original Air Date: August 31, 2001

"Opposite Day" contains examples of…

  • All for Nothing: Billy taunts Grim that everything he went through was for nothing, because it was never Opposite Day to begin with.
  • Batty Lip Burbling: Grim does this at the end of the episode, while simultaneously hitting himself with a mallet.
  • Cruel Twist Ending: For Grim at least. After suffering through the whole day he seems to finally get one over on Billy and Mandy, when Billy says they "deserve" some pie, only for Grim to point out that means they don't deserve it on Opposite Day. Mandy then reminds Grim how she told him it was Opposite Day, and Billy extends that just meant it wasn't Opposite Day, meaning Grim suffered for nothing.
  • Imagine Spot: Grim has one of him cutting down Billy and Mandy.
  • Opposite Day: Obviously. Grim has no familiarity with the concept, and of course, Hilarity Ensues.
  • Rage Breaking Point: Grim reaches his boiling point after being forced to do Mandy’s chores, kissing her dog Saliva, and being tormented at lunch.
    Mandy: Isn't Opposite Day awful?
Billy: Oh, it's dreadful. What do you think, Grim? Isn't it dreadful?
Grim: (sobbing) I hate you so much! I'm so miserable!
Billy: That's good, cause misery goes so great with PIE!
Grim: That's it. I'VE HAD IT!!
  • She Is Not My Girlfriend: Billy has this reaction when Grim refers to Mandy as such at the beginning of the episode.
Billy: She’s just a friend who happens to be a girl, just like I happen to be a boy, and you happen to be a skeleton!
