Recap / The Good Fight S 06 E 02

Go To

Eli Gold shows up to ask Julius to give Marissa another chance to present a case in court. The case is about a singer, Lila Royce, who doesn't want to perform in Israel after learning how they treat Palestinians. A lady who went to college with Liz wants to interview people to make a documentary about the most successful black lawyers. Ri'Chard offers Carmen a promotion of sorts, which she declines.

Tropes:

  • Bait-and-Switch: After her first drug treatment session, Diane thinks she hallucinates elves. The doctor points out that those are elf decorations his secretary brought in.
  • Blatant Lies: The documentary maker gets called out on her hidden motives, and tries to say she was about to tell Liz, who is not fooled.
  • The Bus Came Back: Eli Gold shows up to help his daughter.
  • Call-Back:
    • Diane realizes that she has the most power of the partners because she doesn't have any power. Allegra said the same thing about herself in season 5.
    • Eli tells Marissa that her business with judge Wackner in season 5 has lost her respect in the firm, and they're looking for a way to get rid of her.
  • Continuity Nod: Eli and Diane have a chat. They mention that Peter Florrick is back in jail and Alicia has started a law firm in New York. Diane admits that it didn't end well with her and Alicia, so they haven't spoken.
  • Hypocrite:
    • Lila objects to performing in Israel because of human rights violations, but has an upcoming tour in China.
    • Lila posts a heartfelt video complaining about how awfully China treats some people, and later retracts it at the behest of her record company.
  • Trick Bomb: The fake elevator grenade from the end of the previous episode has become a common occurence for several buildings in the area.
  • Wide-Eyed Idealist: Lila Royce. She was shocked to learn how Israel treats Palestinians, and later absolutely horrified to learn what China has done to Muslims.
