Get ready: tonight is officially the worst night of the lives of our main characters.

An earthquake threatens the lives of dozens of people among the rubble of a building. When Shaun discovers that one of these people is Lea, he risks his own life trying to save her.

  • Always Save the Girl: Subverted. When Shaun discovers that Lea is trapped, he has a priority to go rescue her, even when that is not his job, but when he discovers that the female voice he was hearing was not from Lea, but from another woman, he decides to save her anyway.
  • Anguished Declaration of Love: A rare case where the person did not want (or expected) his love interest to hear. While Shaun is rescuing a woman named Vera from a collapsing building, the two talk about their lives. Vera reveals that she was only at the place (a charity event) hoping to win back her ex boyfriend. She then says that Shaun should move on and give up on Lea. Shaun then says he doesn't want to give up on Lea because she made him discover worldly pleasures that he never would have imagined and makes him feel like a better person. What Shaun doesn't know is that Lea is listening to everything he says on a connected walkie-talkie, and is clearly touched by his words (he had already confessed that he loved her, but not in those details).
  • Beauty Is Never Tarnished: Lea almost dies in the earthquake and spends a few hours among the rubbles of a building... and she remains beautiful.
  • Cliffhanger: The episode ends with this for all the plots: Morgan is forced to make a surgery on a pregnant woman because Glassman and Andrews are busy with other surgeries; Lim and Park try to find a way to save a mortally wounded boy; Melendez passes out from his injuries; and the earthquake ends up causing a water pipe to explode in the place where Shaun and Vera are, threatening their lives, and with Lea being unable to do anything but listen to what is happening on the walkie-talkie.
  • Drowning My Sorrows: It's subtle, but the first scene of the episode shows Lea buying two glasses of drink. When questioned, she says she had a difficult week, but when you remember that her last scene in the previous episode "Heartbreak" showed her being verbally humiliated by Shaun...
  • From Bad to Worse: Shaun and Vera are trapped inside a building ruined by an earthquake. And then a water pipe explodes.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Even when Shaun has acted like a jerk in the last few episodes, his interactions with Vera proves he's still a good person.
  • Kick the Dog: Steve appears again having a conversation in Shaun's mind. But this time, Steve not only does not help Shaun but even cruelly says that Shaun is being an idiot and risking his life in a foolish hope of winning Lea's love, even though she has already made it clear that she has no interest in him. Of course, it can be interpreted that Steve is a representation of Shaun's own subconscious, which means that Shaun is saying that to himself.
  • Rescue Romance: Shaun hopes to use that trope to make Lea fall in love with him, but it doesn't turn out as he expected.
  • Wham Shot: Two, one followed by the other.
    • After Shaun does the monologue about his love for Lea, the camera makes a point of highlighting the walkie-talkie he left on...
    • ...and in the next scene, we see Lea in an ambulance, holding a walkie-talkie, which means that she heard everything.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Shaun risks his life entering the basement of a building ruined by an earthquake, hoping to save Lea, who is missing. During the journey, he has an imaginary conversation with his late brother Steve, who scolds him harshly for risking his life in a pathetic and desperate attempt to win the love of Lea, who has already made it clear that is not interested in him.
