When Sophia is hospitalized with pneumonia, Stan comforts Dorothy. At the hospital, she sees a side of him that impresses her, and she tries to prevent him from getting married again to another woman.

- Estranged Soap Family: Neither Kate nor Michael are shown to attend Stan's wedding. Hand Waved by Stan, who mentions that he got in touch with them and that they're going to "try and fly in". Technically the episode ends just before the ceremony, so perhaps they got there at the very last minute. There's no similar excuse for Stan's brother Ted, who would otherwise be an obvious candidate for best man.
- I Have This Friend: While Dorothy sits in the wedding venue's bar, stewing over her missed opportunity with Stan, a woman sits next to her and talks about her upcoming wedding and her fiancé, who apparently can't stop singing the praises of his ex-wife. Dorothy realizes the woman is Stan's fiancée; and tells her that if Stan's ex-wife were to hear all this, she might temporarily have some old feelings, but then see how happy he and his new bride were, realize her own selfishness, and give them her blessing
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Stan shows a better side of himself in this episode, waiting with Dorothy in the hospital and bravely demanding that the uncaring doctors provide hourly updates on Sophia.
