A Plot: As Erica courts a new college friend named Ren (short for Lauren), she remembers that parents weekend is coming up and doesn't want Ren to see Beverly's embarrassing smothering. She and Barry concoct a plan to tell Beverly that the college is instead holding a "Parents Thursday".
B Plot: Adam learns that Dana is trying out for Juliet in the school play Romeo and Juliet, and is determined to win the part of Romeo over the popular Andrew Gallery. Adam succeeds...but the part of Juliet goes to Vic's daughter Asha.
- Amazingly Embarrassing Parents: This drives Erica's plot, as she tries to keep her new roommate from discovering the walking disaster that is Beverly Goldberg.
- Captain Obvious: Geoff informs Erica with an up-close play-by-play of Beverly's actions that a blind person can understand or sounds too evident if it played out on radio.
