Original air date: 7/29/2023

Scratch is sick. The doctor determines that his condition is psychosomatic, but refuses to enter his mind and promptly leaves. To solve the problem, Molly and Scratch must enter his mind themselves, but what will they find?

Tropes:

  • Big "WHY?!": When Scratch tries to fly up to the top of the building but drops instead.
    Scratch: Why, subconscious, why?
  • Bottle Episode: Takes place almost entirely in Scratch's mind, with just a few scenes in Molly's bedroom.
  • Call-Back: Scratch is eventually forced to admit he did remember something when he drank the soda.
  • Don't Explain the Joke: Scratch preemptively stops Molly from over-explaining her “monkey business” joke.
  • The Faceless: Just like the last time we saw the memory of Adia moving away, we never get to see the human Scratch's face.
  • Ghost Amnesia: Scratch has trouble recalling memories from when he was alive, at least of his childhood, and it worries him.
  • Internal Reveal: Molly finds out Scratch recovered some memories after the events of "A Soda to Remember".
  • Journey to the Center of the Mind: The central plot of the episode is Molly and Scratch traveling through Scratch's mind to find out what he is suppressing.
  • King Kong Copy: As Molly and Scratch climb the skyscraper, a giant version of the business suit monkey stands on top, throwing bananas at them. He finally stops when Scratch confesses that the strawberry soda did make him remember something.
  • Lame Pun Reaction: Why is there a monkey in a business suit? Molly jokes that it’s clearly up to some monkey business, which she finds hilarious and Scratch does not.
  • Meaningful Echo:
Molly: I'm sorry, Scratch. I know how hard it is when friends move away. But, I want you to know, I'm here for you, and I'm not going anywhere.
  • Repressed Memories: Scratch's repressed his recovered memories, but now they are bubbling to the surface.
  • The Reveal: We learn more about Scratch and his childhood friend Adia; it seems they used to dream of traveling the world together when they grew up.
  • Riddle for the Ages: What is the deal with the monkey in the suit?
  • Running Gag: The monkey in a suit occasionally appearing.
  • Shout-Out: Molly opens Scratch's book to a curse that could "turn [her] from 13 to 30 to learn a lesson about the magic of childhood."
  • Simple Solution Won't Work: Scratch questions why he is climbing a ladder when he can just fly to the top of the building, only to plummet to the ground when he lets go.
  • Splash of Color: The star on Scratch's doll house door is pink, as opposed to everything else in Scratch's mind, so Molly figures it's important.
