Original air date: 5/6/2023

When Scratch is invited to a cool party, he must ditch his plans with Geoff.

Tropes:

  • All for Nothing: All of Scratch's efforts to attend Jeff's party and avoid Geoff's, including coercing Molly to not let Geoff find out, end up being pointless when Scratch learns that Jeff's and Geoff's parties are actually the same.
  • Call-Back: When Geoff was first introduced he would stress how he's G-E-O-F-F, Geoff. We find out in this episode it's because J-E-F-F is his boyfriend.
  • Easily Forgiven: Geoff forgives Scratch for his deceit, but Jeff doesn't immediately let him off the hook, and he angrily lets Scratch know that he will answer to him if he messes with Geoff one time too many.
    • Geoff also seems to hold no resentment towards Jinx for endangering Scratch and Molly or throwing him into the Flow of Failed Phantoms in "Molly Vs. The Ghost World", which is surprising.
  • Exhausted Eye Bags: Molly has these at the end after updating her Friendship Handbook.
  • Failed a Spot Check: Scratch somehow missed all the obvious clues that Geoff's party and Jeff's party were one and the same. Such as the anniversary photos, banners, and decorative plates. Lampshaded as one of the banners has "You can't miss it" written on it.
  • Gay Best Friend: Geoff is revealed to be this to Scratch.
  • I Have This Friend: Scratch explains his predicament to Molly by telling her that he has a 'friend' who wants to go to a cool party, but he doesn't want to hurt his other friend's feelings. Molly is enraged when she finds out that the 'friend' is actually Scratch. Scratch lampshades that there's never a 'friend.'
  • If You Ever Do Anything To Hurt Him: Jeff is nothing but friendly up to this point, but he doesn't easily forgive Scratch much like his boyfriend, vowing to deal with Scratch himself if he ever does anything to hurt Geoff.
Jeff: Geoff may forgive you, but you're not off the hook with me, pal. (threateningly) If you ever hurt my angelic Geoff again, you'll answer (takes on a larger, scarier form) to ME!
Scratch: (suitably terrified) Got it, yes, sir...
Jeff: Now let's have a good time!
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Scratch trapped Molly in a conflict of keeping it secret that he's not attending Geoff's party so as not to hurt his feelings, something that gets called out. At the end when he's found out, Jeff privately threatens Scratch to never take advantage of Geoff's feelings like that again, scaring him straight.
  • One Degree of Separation: Scratch is such a poor friend he never realized that Geoff is in a relationship with Jeff, which contributes to his confusion regarding their shared party.
  • One-Steve Limit: Geoff and Jeff have the same name, but spelled differently. The fact that they're also partners probably justifies Geoff being so insistent on spelling his name correctly.
  • Party Scheduling Gambit: This is one where only one party is involved.
  • Playing Sick: Scratch feigns an illness so that he can avoid going to Geoff's party.
  • Pretender Diss: Jinx justifies screwing with Scratch as doing it for the "real" Chairman.
  • Queer Establishing Moment: Geoff is revealed to be gay when he reveals that Jeff is his longtime "after-life partner" and the party is for their anniversary.
  • Soup Is Medicine: Geoff believes that Scratch is sick, so he leaves soup for him.
  • Sweet and Sour Grapes: Scratch is about to come clean about skipping Geoff's party to go to Jeff's, but ends up learning that the two parties are actually one and the same, so he can attend "both".
  • Troll: Jinx is at the party and, still sore over Scratch overthrowing the previous Chairman, doesn't tell him that Jeff and Geoff's parties are the same. She does this to watch Scratch sweat over Geoff finding out he lied.
  • Two-Timer Date: Scratch is planning to go to Geoff's party, but he's also invited to Jeff's party, which is occurring at the same time. Scratch decides to ditch Geoff's party and go to Jeff's, but he tries to remain hidden. Ultimately subverted when it turns out the party was for both Jeff and Geoff, specifically, their 100th anniversary of being after-life partners.
