This episode contains examples of:

  • Abusive Parents: Downplayed example, But Mr.Warner doesn't seem to think there was anything wrong with using Blair, his own daughter as a tax shelter, even ignoring her obvious distress at the matter.

  • Calling the Old Man Out: Blair calls her father out not only for the tax cheating, but also for not wanting to really spend any quality time with her without any ulterior motives.

  • Daddy's Girl: Blair absolutely adores her father, making it all the more heartbreaking when she realizes that all of their past trips together, which were on holidays were merely done for mostly personal gain.

  • Downer Ending: Blair's relationship with her father has been damaged due to his nonchalant behavior about the tax situation. He won't even spend the quality time with her that she so desperately wants, instead going off on another business trip, and giving her another presumably ill-gotten allowance.

  • Greed: Mr.Warner's cheating on his taxes reeks of this.

  • Intimidating Revenue Service: Natalie dreads the thought of an IRS visit, Blair doesn't at least until she becomes aware of her father's actions.
