Avasarala gathers information linking the protomolecule to Julie Mao's father. Miller's plan is put into action. After assembling a demolition team and procuring the Rocinante's services for cover, the Nauvoo is evacuated of its people, commandeered, and set on a collision course to knock Eros into the Sun. After flying to Eros, the Rocinante drops its cargo of bombs, and the demolition team spacewalks to them for precise placement in order to seal the surface of the asteroid. A complication arises when a ship of doctors is found attempting to aid the "survivors" of Eros; they will not follow Holden's orders to leave, so he destroys their ship. The debris damages one of Miller's bombs, and he chooses to stay with it on Eros, watching the Nauvoo approach... but no collision takes place. Holden and crew confirm that the Nauvoo did not miss – Eros maneuvered to avoid the impact.
This episode contains the following tropes:
- Chekhov's Gun: At the start of the season, Errinwright mentioned being under pressure to send a mercy mission to Eros. Looks like one was sent despite his efforts.
- Dramatic Irony: Holden reveals his real identity to the doctors to get them to stop transmitting what's going on at Eros; given that Holden is famous for doing exactly what they're trying to do, it doesn't work.
- Hope Spot: A spacecraft is found docked on the outside of Eros, but they are doctors on a mercy flight who say they couldn't get since the docks were on Lock Down. Everything appears to be all right until Miller discovers a hacked airlock and the body of a doctor infected by the protomolecule. Things start going rapidly downhill from there.
- I Always Wanted to Say That: Amos always wanted to say "bombs away."
- Is That a Threat?: Mao realises that Avasarala is onto them and says he'll start taking matters into his own hands. When Errinwright wants to know if that's a threat, there's a significant pause from Mao's end of the conversation.
- Poor Communication Kills: When the doctors mistake them for a Martian warship, Holden decides Sure, Let's Go with That. Unfortunately, the doctors believe they've uncovered a Martian bioweapon being tested on Eros, and refuse to believe Holden, even when he reveals his real identity.
- Shoot the Dog: All over the place in this episode.
- Fred Johnson agrees to hijack the Nauvoo, putting an end to the Mormon plan to colonise another solar system and likely destroying whatever legitimacy he has.
- When the mercy ship threatens to broadcast the news of what's happening on Eros, Holden destroys them with a missile. Unfortunately this causes a Flechette Storm of debris to damage one of the bombs.
- Someone Has to Die: The detonation switch on Miller and Diogo's last bomb gets damaged by the debris from the mercy ship, so one of them has to stay behind to keep pressing the reset button, so it won't go off too soon.
- Wham Line: "The Nauvoo didn't move. Eros did."
- You Need to Get Laid: Miller repeatedly implies that Diogo's attitude is because he's still a virgin.
- You're Insane!: Holden to Johnson and Miller on hearing The Plan.
