Brainwashed and Crazy: Luke, suggesting to Bo, Daisy and Uncle Jesse that the General Lee is falling apart and should be sent to the junkyard. The others are unaware that the nefarious Dr. Crandall has hypnotized Luke and planted the idea that the General Lee is no longer in its prime.
Oh, Crap!: At one point, Rosco has the General Lee driven to the top of a high hill and sets the car into gear, pointing it in the direction of a tall cliff in the hopes it will crash into a ball of flame at the bottom. Cooter happens to be driving by, sees what's going on and then gets in (successfully) between the car and the cliff ... until he finds he has great difficulty stopping his truck. (The trucks non-power drum brakes had burned out.) Cooter does, however, get the truck stopped Just in Time — almost literally.
