Go To

Original Air Date (UK): March 11, 1994

Rufus and Amberley go hiking and skiing with the Dreamstone (which Spildit packed by mistake). During a failed mission, the Urpneys snatch the Dreamstone. Rufus and Amberley hastily recover the Dreamstone and crash all the Whirleypeds.

Tropes featured in the episode (YMMV here):

  • Achievements in Ignorance: The Urpneys botch Urpgor's spy monitor scheme by bumping into the Noops, knocking them out. During their bickering, they find the Dreamstone within the wreckage and hand it to Zordrak. For extra points, by contrast the heroes had to put up a far more elaborate effort to get the Dreamstone back this time, with Zordrak even inspired to upgrade his plans against them.
  • Badass Normal: The Noops are left to retrieve the Dreamstone from Viltheed, while the Dream Maker and the Wuts are left behind to protect the Land Of Dreams from the Argorribles.
  • Captain Crash: The Urpneys' attempts to catch the Noops in their whirleypeds fail miserably when they all crash into one another.
  • Curbstomp Battle: The Argorribles are decimated in this episode; first by the Wuts and then the Noops using the Dreamstone.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: A rare episode the Noops don't win easily, with great timing and elaboration being required to get the stone back.
  • Hard Work Hardly Works: The Urpneys' current plan to elaborately spy on the Noops fails when the Noops inadvertently crash into them, and pretty much leave the stone out open for them to take. Subverted for the heroes for once, who must take on a elaborate plan to get it back.
  • Large Ham: Zordrak in his climatic speech. See Wham Line below.
  • Mass "Oh, Crap!": The Urpneys and the skiing Noops as they realise they are about to collide into each other.
    • As Zordrak explains his new motive to corrupt the Dreamstone and take over the universe, the Noops can be seen behind, exchanging stunned blinks.
  • Mid-Season Twist: Zordrak reveals a new, deadlier motive for taking the Dreamstone, upping the stakes for the heroes.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Spildit, under a miscommunication with Rufus, packs the Dreamstone in his bag, leading to the Urpneys stealing it when the Noops crash into them.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: Zordrak briefly leaves the stone out open, giving the Noops and opportunity to swipe it and escape.
  • Not-So-Harmless Villain: After Zordrak gets his hands on the stone, it seems the Argorribles nightmares are all the heroes have to worry about as usual. Then the Noops overhear his new plan, to take the stone to the Nightmare Planet and convert it into evil, with which he will become invincible, crushing the heroes and becoming "Lord of the Universe". From this point onwards in the series, the heroes losing the stone becomes a more frantic Race Against the Clock.
  • Offscreen Moment of Awesome: Rufus saving Amberley from Zordrak and escaping his lair is cut by a scene transition.
  • Overshadowed by Awesome: The Noops attempt to rearrange the Dream Maker's furniture for him, left quite exhausted. The Dream Maker demonstrates it's much easier if he just uses his magic to move it.
    • Subverted during the main climax, where the Noops succeed in getting the stone back just in time to save the Dream Maker and the civilians.
  • Revisiting the Roots: The episode starts off a standard laid back Villain Protagonist story with the Urpneys' buffoonery, before a Perspective Flip to the Noops, leading to a genuinely serious and intense climax much akin the pilot episode.
  • Sympathetic P.O.V.: Starts off Urpney focused as Blob's men try to set up Urpgor's device, then switches to the Noops when they try to retrieve the Dreamstone from them. More evened case than usual because the Noops have a much harder time in this episode, with Zordrak even gaining a newer more dangerous plan for the stone to up their stakes for the rest of the series.
  • Took a Level in Badass: In most previous episodes, while the Noops did sometimes save the stone, they were usually Glass Cannons or outright Miles Gloriosus, only able to handle the Urpneys at their most harmless. In this episode they take on much more elaborate planning to get the stone back and are even implied to escape a brief scuffle with Zordrak in one piece, showing they can handle a Not So Harmless threat.
  • Wham Episode/Nothing Is the Same Anymore: Subtle but effective case. Zordrak adopts a more menacing plan for the Dreamstone, making each episode's stakes more dire for the heroes. The Noops are also given a more serious challenge in this episode and Took a Level in Badass they lost after Season One. While episodes after this revert back to comical Urpney plots, the Noops' boosted Sympathetic P.O.V. and slightly more tasking situations are often maintained.
  • Wham Line: From this line onwards, the villains' intents become far more Not So Harmless:
Zordrak: I shall take the Dreamstone to the Nightmare Planet and there I shall convert it's powers to evil. I shall be unassailable. I shall be LORD OF THE UNIVERRRRSE!!!
