Recap / The Dreamstone S 02 E 07 The Monster

Go To

When Blob, Frizz and Nug accidentally activate one of Urpgor's old inventions, a giant robot, Urpgor programs it to become obedient and gets it to steal the Dreamstone. Amberley gets hold of the microphone and neutralizes the monster for good.

Tropes featured in the episode:

  • Aside Glance: The monster gives the audience a confused look and a shrug when it sees Mr. Blossom attacking it.
  • Badass Bystander: Mr. Blossom. Well, maybe not "badass", but it takes gut to attack a Humongous Mecha armed with only a spade.
  • Bittersweet Ending: The Land of Dreams is damaged from the rampage, though the heroes are relieved at least the stone is safe. Meanwhile on the other side, the monster is destroyed, though Blob's troops at least get amusement from Urpgor making a fool of himself.
  • Cassandra Truth:
    • Due to his imagination, nobody believes Rufus when he tells them about the monster until they actually see it coming.
    • The Urpneys are convinced the monster is a creation of Urpgor's he made to torment them. He is dumbfounded by this until Zordrak compliments "his" work.
  • Humongous Mecha: The titular monster.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Rufus, yet again, loses the Dreamstone to the Urpneys, carelessly letting it slip out of his pocket as he tries to tussle with the monster.
  • No Endor Holocaust: Subverted, since the monster did cause a lot of collateral damage to the town after it's rampage. An odd case since this trope was usually excused in other episodes where the elder heroes could just magically fix any damage.
  • Shut Up, Scary Thing!: Mr. Blossom doesn't care if you're a giant robot or not - nobody crushes his flowers and gets away with it.
  • Sure, Let's Go with That: Zordrak assumes that Urpgor created the monster to steal the Dreamstone. Eager to get into his master's good books, Urpgor immediately claims credit.
