Go To

Original Air Date (UK): Oct 9, 1990

Urpgor brews an invisibility potion which enables Urpneys to steal the Dreamstone from the Dream Maker unseen. Because they covered the Dreamstone with invisibility potion they lose track of it and end up heading back to Viltheed without it, while Albert smells it out.

Tropes featured in the episode:

  • Angry Guard Dog: Though normally a Big Friendly Dog, this episode establishes exactly why the Urpneys fear Albert.
  • Characterisation Marches On: Amberley, as with previous episodes, is a bit more sharp tempered and dismissive. The Dream Maker also comes off much more absent minded in this episode than later on, failing to notice the suspicious goings on caused by the Urpneys or take heed of Albert's warnings.
Dream Maker: *as Albert desperately tugs at his robe* Yes, I know Rufus and Amberley are in the tower.
  • Establishing Series Moment: While the first few episodes played with the usual formula, this episode sets up what you'll be seeing for most of the series. Blob's men back and forth with Urpgor, Zordrak confronts them over their new invention, Blob's men enter the Land of Dreams using it in an Epic Fail attempt to steal the Dreamstone.
  • Face Palm: A surprisingly nonplussed Zordrak does one when it is clear Blob has failed to deliver the stone.
  • Hyper-Competent Sidekick: Albert is the only one that takes notice of the weird goings on caused by the invisible Urpneys.
  • Hypocritical Humor: As they pull away their stock of dream bottles, Amberley lectures Rufus over not paying attention to his work, failing to notice some of her load fall off before Rufus grabs it.
  • Invisible Jerkass: Urpgor tests his new potion by using it to torment Blob and his troops.
  • Invisibility: The Urpneys' method of trying to steal the dream stone.
  • Mook Horror Show: As the Urpneys try to escape, they are clearly outmatched by Albert.
  • Nap-Inducing Speak: Urpgor's self aggrandising explanation of his potion (plus his lengthy happy fit afterwards) puts Blob and Nug to sleep.
  • Not Me This Time: When the Dreamstone disappears, Amberley and the Dream Maker immediately enquire how Rufus messed with it this time. Ironically this was prior to Rufus' carelessness with the Dreamstone became a Running Gag.
  • Tone Shift: Though "The Knitted Balloon" showed subtle changes, this episode marks the true drift out of the tense action format of the pilot and into the more light hearted Villain Protagonist formula of the rest of the series with the Urpneys bungling in their attempts to steal the Dreamstone.
